We have purchased a week directly from an owner at the Embassy (or is is Sunterra?) Grand Beach Resort. We stayed there once before, but never have taken a tour of the resort. We plan on arriving about 4 days prior to the date our rental starts. Has anyone been successful in contacting a resort where you are staying for a week, and negotiating a deal whereby you get a unit for 3 nights at a much reduced rate, in exchange for taking a tour of the facility, trying to see you a unit? I really don't want to move after 3 days, and would like to stay in the same unit for 10 nights. Anyone done this before? If that won't work, anyone know of a good timeshare promo going on in February where I'll get a good rate for 3 nites in exchange for a tour? My DW and I have done about 5 timeshare tours already, so we are conditioned to say "NO".

We have done this. We stayed a the Hyatt cocnut plantation for 10 days. I just called and explained that we already had plane tickets and were interested in staying there for 3 extra nights and we would like to take the tour because we were looking to buy a condo. Act like you are serious about buying. We got it for $129.00 per night. It was one of the best vacations I have ever had other then Disney!

I don't think it could hurt to call direct and ask. As for availability a lot might depend on when in February you'll be there. I'm sure many places black out President's Day week w/ it being a peak season week.
