Its been a long time since I've been to Disneyland and so I don't have any experience with the Fast pass sytem.

I'm hearing that RSR is WAY better at night. But I also hear that FP "sell out" pretty quick for this ride.

Anybody know any strategies to pick up a FP for this ride that has a night time return window?

Or should I just wait until almost closing when lines begin to wind down?

They post the return times that are being handed out on an electric sign board just above where you enter to pick up a FP .The FP machines for the Racers is near the entrance to It` Tough To Be A Bug. How fast the FPs are handed out depends on the crowd level. A busy time like summer or holidays , all the FPs are gone by noon.

I went during a somewhat off season day to get a night time FP . What I did was to keep checking the time on the message board everytime I walked past it to see how fast they were going. When it looked like they were close to giving out the 7pm time slot, I sat on the bench across from the sign board and just waited until they showed the time I wanted to ride. This was in late Sept on a weekday and the 7pm return time was passed out around 2:30pm

If you are in line at park closing, they will keep the rides going until everyone in line gets to ride. The park was to close at 8pm , we got in line just before 8pm and it took about 45 min but we did get to ride it. Another strategy is to use the Single Rider line. Sometimes this is faster than a FP but your party will probably not be able to ride in the same car

You need an admission ticket for each FP but not everyone in your party has to be there at the FP machine. You could gather everyone`s admission ticket and get FPs for them while they go elsewhere. BUT, every admission ticket has to have been used for admission into Either DL or DCA that day before it can be used for FP. The way it was last time we were there, everyone in our party could start the day at DL , then one of us would run over to DCA to get FPs with everyone`s admission ticket, then bring everything back. Best to check that they haven`t changed that option.

wow, im also planning to visit one of them. Time passed so quickly and it seems they have changed :D. It's also been a long time not visiting there and thanks for your reply :D

Friday the 16th DD and I had to kill time to get night time FPs for RSR. It seemed the trend for that day was FPs moved up two hours for each hour we checked. It was a relatively mellow day. I can't remember exactly what time we got them for a 6:30-7:30 time slot but it was after noon some time. In July we had no issues getting FPs either. At 9am we got them for 11:30 easy.

Unless you will be there on a crazy busy day there is no longer a big rush to try and nab FPs for RSR anymore. They still run out but you have plenty of time to get them as long as you are paying attention to how things are going that day. A great source for this and other FP rides is "Call Otto." The number is on the park maps/schedules. We've found it way more reliable than any of the Apps we've used.
