Strangest thing you HAVE to pack?

Can someone explain the key card for lights? ( old gift card)?
Thanks!

There is a power conservation system that the lights only work if you have a card in the slot by the door. I know I don't want to put my KTTW card in there, so I bring a old hotel key to put in the slot.

For those who seem to think they have to bring PooPourri, those in your group who are considerate will take the short walk to public facilities before destroying the room for everybody else. There are public locations all over the place. Don't think we've ever polluted the room enough to require gas masks... ;)
Well, if you have PooPourri there is no need to waste the time to go find another location. It's like it never happened...and not a single other person will know it did. THAT is why it is so great. :flower3:

We pack some large zip top bags for random things on beach days to keep sand out of everything, a couple of trash bags for any wet cloths that aren't dry and a couple of Tide Pins.

In my experience the "offender" thinks it seems like it never happened, while in reality the room just smells like poo *and* flowers.

Actually...I have to disagree as that is not the case in my experience. My DH is typically the "offender" in our household...and without it, I would likely want to start making him find an "outhouse" outside of our home on a regular basis. LOL But hey...to each their own. It makes a difference for my family....if you would rather send your family out to the public restrooms...more power to you. (note to self....avoid the public restrooms....LOL)

I forgot to mention, I always bring a needle and thread and a few safety pins.

Happy sailing!

So you send them to a public bathroom to pollute the air for other passengers so you don't have to smell it. I even have a very small PooPourri spray (about the size of a lip gloss) that fits in a pocket so if I have to go to a public bathroom I don't stink everyone else out. PooPourri does a very good job. We keep a big size in the toilet area of the bathroom on all our trips, hotel, cruise or train. It's called being considerate of your fellow passengers.

Nope, not with PooPourri. It really does work like they say. I have even used it after the fact when my DH forgets to use it. We used to use air fresheners and they just smell like whatever smell they are and poo, but with PooPourri it actually destroys the odor, and my DH is a real stinker, so believe me, I know it works.

Great list. Added a few things to my already huge packing list. :-)

One thing we do is make sure we take almost empty or old stuff that we can throw away on the trip - think shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. When my daughter was young we took the pjs, socks, etc that we'd be replacing and just trashed them at the end of vacation. Sometimes even shorts that she was outgrowing, etc. This freed up room for all of our purchases too. It's a little harder to take the old clothes now as she doesn't outgrow stuff often.

I like flavored creamer in my coffee so this trip I'm taking one of those concentrated little bottles of French vanilla creamer. I can use pre cruise at the hotel too!

I leave a couple of safety pins pinned in the fabric pocket of each of my suitcases and carry on bags. That way I know I've always got one handy whenever I travel.

I take clothespins to hold curtains together.. works wonders not only on ship but
in hotel rooms.. I cut a small sponge up and put dish soap on it and that
is what I use to clean my tumbler/mug that I take along.
