If we buy a 10-day, no-exp PH pass and use, say, 4 days, can we come back 2 years later and upgrade it to an AP? For that matter, can we upgrade ANY partially used, non-exp pass to an AP?:confused3 We are planning a 5 day stay in 2010 and mom and dad are taking us for a 7-8 day stay in 2012 so we're trying to figure out our best ticket strategy. Any suggestions?

My understanding is that you can apply any unused MYW tickets to an AP. However, if you have older tickets (UPH - Ultimate Park Hoppers etc) those can't be used to upgrade.

You could always buy the 10-day no-exp, use it for your first trip, then buy an AP for your second trip and save the remaining days on your 10-day for another trip. :) More excuses to visit... :)

If policy posted in 15C in the Ticket Sticky thread provided by pp has not changed then 10 day non-expiring hopper is probably not best option :sad2: .

Maybe save what you can on the upcoming trip by buying just number of days you actually need and not adding non-expiration feature will save money as well.
Then figure out if you can plan your two future trips if you can around an AP purchase. You'd want to get at least 2 trips out of an AP, but with current member discount of $100 it still may pay to get it and purchase again with renewal rate if it expires before you get all the trips in.

DUH!! I hadn't thought about it that way.:upsidedow Most of our trips will be 5 nights, but in 2012, my parents are taking the entire family at their expense. Dad has decided that since this will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, he wants it to be a full 7 nights. That's why I was thinking that I didn't want to use 5 days up and then have only 5 left for a 7 day trip. Plus, we want the AP's so DH and I can get the DDE card for the big trip. I never thought about just using the remaining 5 days on our next 5 day trip! I guess I am still a little new to the idea that I actually OWN DVC now!

On the ticket sticky --

it should be totally up to date. The author, Cheshire Figment, is a current CM that does ticket transactions and posts ticket help every day on the touring board.

So I have a very high level of confidence that it's all correct - and it's really comprehensive, so a great resource. Especially for DVC members who often have annual passes (like me!) and find it difficult to keep up with all the details of the ticket policies!

This is great to know, thank you :flower3:
