How do the moms on here handle bed-wetting at Disney hotels? Do you bring your own plastic sheet? Do you use a diaper at night?

Our 3 year old is potty trained during the day, but bed wets, so I'm concerned about that.

Thanks in advance,

Bianca

I would use the pull-ups before putting them to bed. It's like a diaper and disposable but is put on like underwear. Even though they are potty trained during the day you can always tell them that you want to certain they are "dry" in the morning. I used to reward my DS when I was potty training him for night wetting and it worked. :yay:

I'd bring a diaper for night.

For what it is worth, my DD was potty trained during the day at 27 months but did not stop bed wetting until 5. My doctor told me not to worry and not to push her because many kids sleep too deep and their bladders are too small to make it all night.

I totally agree with OP. We used pull ups, at night and we did not have any problems, we just called them our " nighttime underwear" we put them in the drawer next to the "daytime undies" and never had a problem. My DD was a deep sleeper and when she wet, she never knew. We had 2 accidents and then for what ever reason she didn't do it anymore, she woke up.

DS is 11 and he suffers from bed wetting. Finally, over the last 4 months or so, he has really done better. When we travel to WDW, I take pull ups for every night we are there, plus I take 1 extra because we have had defective ones. He would sometimes wet through it, so, I stop his liquids after 8pm. If we have a meal that late, I wake him up during the night to go to the restroom.

I don't think it is a strange question at all. Our four year old is potty trained (does great during the day), but still has accidents sometimes at night. All my kids are heavy sleepers, and will sleep for 10+ hours if you let them.

I just wait until he goes to sleep and then put a pull-up on him (he doesn't want to wear one otherwise). The regular pull-ups never worked for us though (they always leak!). We use the "Goodnights" diapers - it's just like a pull-up, but way more absorbent - also has cool designs on them for kids.

Thanks for the advice. Does housekeeping complain if a child wets through? Sometimes even with the diaper she wets through onto the sheets. That's why we have a plastic sheet. Should I bring it with us? She I warn our room housekeeper at All-Stars?

I don't want to make a big deal out of it with DD.

I doubt that housekeeping would complain - after all, accidents do happen. But if it makes you feel more comfortable, then bring something like that along with you. They also make the little absorbent pads - like you would put under a crib sheet in a baby bed - these are small and would fold up easily in your luggage. Just place one under her at night.

Your probably worrying for no reason at all though. She will probably do just fine. Enjoy your trip! :)

I brought pull-ups for at night.

If you think this won't work you can always get those blue liners for the mattress at any grocery or pharmacy store. Honestly my girls have wet the bed before and they just come in and change the mattress.

Housekeeping may provide a vinyl sheet for the bed if you ask for it. here's a link to a thread from last year about this subject (see post#9 for a comment on the vinyl sheet). You could just bring your own from home, or let her wear a night time diaper (i.e. pull up, goodnights). At 3, I wouldn't even consider it a "bed wetting problem". All kids are different and some kids get the daytime thing but still do not have the maturity to know to wake up at night and go to the bathroom. She'll get it eventually!

Switch to Goodnights they absorb a lot more than regular pull-ups

I agree w/ some previous posters... the Goodnights are wonderful, and bring 1 or 2 waterproof crib pads. then you don't have to fuss w/ housekeeping in the middle of the night if it happens.

I agree that at age 3, it is not bedwetting! It's just not night time pt yet and VERY normal for a 3 year old. I would bring diapers, not pull ups. PUll ups just don't contain much pee at all. A regular diaper holds a ton more pee than a pull up.

I brought pullups/Goodnights for DS8 and DS5 for our recent trip to WDW. Even though I knew they would be 90% dry in the AM, it was just easier and they didnt mind wearing them. Not so much because they have had accidents in teh past, but because they were so wiped out that they would sleep through a hurricane after a day at the parks!! If they woke up dry - even better - we would reuse the pull up for the next night. If they woke up soggy - no worries! You can also put a towle or two done if you thnk it could be an issue. DS8 (now 9) has had probelms with bedwetting even still - a hereditary trait ( he will out grow it soon eneough). DS5 will wake up dr 6 out of 7 nights. Just goes to who how differentour kids are!!:wizard:

I would agree with this, plus you get WAY more diapers in a package then you do with Pull ups or Goodnites for the same price (gotta love the marketing of these companies!)

Plus, for some kids, Pullups or Goodnites just don't absorb enough or work well enough! I know a few years back when my former stepson was 5-6 years old, they sure as heck didn't. Plus he used to toss and turn so much that leaks were always assured if he wore one of those at night (and he wet every night). He could even manage to take them while asleep and have no memory of doing it in the morning, lol!

The only thing that ever worked for him (and this is what we did at Disney) was just a regular diaper, and for added "security" at the hotel, a diaper doubler inside (they sell them at a lot of grocery stores, Toys R Us, etc.). I also had him sleep on one of those absorbant mattress pads just in case, though he never did leak while staying at one of the hotels, luckily.

Great replies!
I just wanted to add that with my kiddos, I've found that only allowing water to drink after dinner really helps with this! Then I know that they are gettng enough fluids (especially at WDW!) and I know they aren't drinking just to drink! They'll chug down flavored drinks!

Your child is not bed wetter; just not fully potty trained yet. And at night only, at 3yo, I’d say that is pretty normal.

I have to agree that maybe you should skip the pull up. DS2 is a camel; he doesn’t pee a lot, but when he does, I swear it’s a gallon—pull ups couldn’t hold it. I'd go with a regular diaper. Doesn't Pampers make a diaper that is an actual diaper but for quick changes it can go up like a pull up?

DS#1 had his only accident at night from 11 months at WDW. He was just so sound asleep, he didn’t wake. Not a problem at home, but WDW is a different beast. Housekeeping was wonderful about it. We were so apologetic, but they kept saying it happens every single night and it doesn’t matter. They only asked if we wanted immediate service or service when they normally provided it (since we discovered it in the morning). They came with special cleaning supplies geared for urine, all new bedding (sheets, bread spread, etc), flipped the mattress, and asked if we wanted a plastic sheet.

If you're nervous about it, bring your own sheet or an absorbent pad. If you bring your own sheet, let housekeeping know so they don't accidentally take it.

My potty trained three year old wore diapers at night until she consistently woke up dry.
