Strange question about The Contemporary.

In a couple of promotional pictures of the Contemporary, they show the
rooms decorated with White comforters. Are these in specific rooms ~ like
concierge, or suites? If you have stayed in the contemporary how much
is it like a "Convention" resort?

They must be in the pictures just for the pictures. We stayed there last year in a standard room and certainly didn't have the big fluffy duvets that are pretty much standard now at luxury hotels and resorts. Just a bedspread and blanket. Also, the pillows are bad foam affairs. If you call and request down or feather, you get bad feather pillows.

Hard to say about the convention hotel aspect. It has ballrooms in the main building and, I assume, a certain amount of convention business. It doesn't seem overrun with conventioneers like the Swan and Dolphin. The convenience of the monorail can't be beat, IMO. We love California Grill.

But, don't expect the luxuries of a AAA 5-star hotel. I just stayed at one such hotel (while attending a convention actually) and there is simply no comparison. For all WDW hotels, the key is location. Disney needn't try to compete with incredible service, fabulous amenities, etc., and, quite simply, doesn't.

We have stayed there twice. We love the location - just a short walk to the MK. The beds had bed spreads and blankets. They are queen size which is nice. There was a convention going on while we were there on one trip but the convention area is on it's own floor so you really don't notice it. We just met a family at the pool who was there for a convention. We love the location! Location! Location! Location!

Also, we need high speed internet in room for dh and myself while on vacation. The CR does have this feature. There are not a lot of resorts that offer it at wdw so we are a little limited in where we can stay.

We stayed at the CR while attending a convention 2 years ago. I liked the 24 hour food court. The room was a lot larger than most of the other rooms we have stayed in at WDW. The decor was really bold but remember, it's all about location, location, location!!! It is so wonderful to be able to walk to the MK and the monorail are perks to be considered. I also enjoyed the pool at CR. Would I book a trip specifically to stay there-probably not. For a time Shades of Green, the military recreation hotel , was housed at CR. We had a chance to stay there also. I have friends who wouldn't stay anywhere else!
