Strange issue with car service

We always book a car service and use the same one for our return flight for the last several trips.
The one we use has everything in the quote. Including any fees and gratuity.
So when our driver dropped us off at home DH asks we’re all set now right. We don’t own anything. Driver said correct. DH asks including tip. Reply was we get a percentage but not a tip. I take care of booking everything but I came home sick and just wanted to crash so now this driver got a 38$ tip for about a half hr ride.
I knew this wasn’t right so the next morning I called the com. The girl was a bit surprised what I was telling her. She did confirm the quote includes gratuity which is the drivers tip
She didn’t even hesitate and ask if she refunded the automatic gratuity if that would be ok.
I was totally fine and she was the one that came up with it. I didn’t even to ask
She said that was totally unacceptable and they were going to talk to the driver.
I hope we don’t get the driver again
Funny part is we just had him either last Jan or Oct. He didn’t try anything then

Don’t solicit trouble next time. Your agreement said you paid the gratuity, you knew you paid. By asking the driver if you were all set you opened the door to getting scammed and then you practically ran through it by specifically asking again. Should the driver have been honest? Yes- but we don’t live in a world full of puppy dogs, rainbows and honest John Does. Your DH was practically begging to get ripped off and someone obliged him.

(And you’re booking with them again and accepting that you might get this driver again?!)

There's plenty of really good car services, find another one.

Sometimes the tip is automatically applied. Sometimes you have the option to prepay the tip.

In either case just tell the driver I already paid the tip. Make sure your boss doesn't cheat you.

Disagree. If they've had good experiences in the past, this could just be a "one off". Going to another car service (keep in mind, this is in their home town, not Disney), you could end up a bad service, not just a bad driver.
