Strange Experience Making Dining Reservations

I just had a strange experience with dining and recreation reservations. We are spending 8 nights at WDW spread among 3 Disney Resorts. The first resort is a one night stay at the Beach Club Villas. I called Member Services 90 days from our check in at the Beach Club Villas and I was told I could not make reservations beyond our next day check out even though we were moving to the Port Orleans and later to the Villas at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Two days later I call the Disney Dining number. When asked for our reservation I again give the one day stay at Beach Club. We were able to book a dinner show three days past the Beach Club check out date. However, the interesting part is I never told them about our moves to other resorts during our stay. Keep in mind each of our resort reservations were made separately and I do not see how they could be "linked" and the representative gave no indication of knowing about the other reservations. The only reservation they checked was the one night stay at the Beach Club. So based on the first call I was not eligible for the extended reservation time because my Beach Club stay was only one night and the dinner show was more than 90 days from the day I made the reservation. Arguably this reservation would have fallen within the time we are staying at Port Orleans and was eligible for the 90+10 reservation window. However, I then went on and made an additional dining reservation for a date near the end of our stay at WDW. Once again, there was never a problem and never a request for any information concerning our resort stays other than the initial one night stay at the Beach Club. This reservation would have been outside the 90 day reservation window for the Beach Club stay and the Port Orleans stay. Based on the first call to Member Services I should not have been able to make this reservation until 90 days from our check in date at the Villas at the Animal Kingdom Lodge which is still a couple days away. I then get transfered to recreation to make a horse back riding reservation. Result, sorry we can't help you, the 90 day window resets each time you move to a new resort. I am told I must call back in a couple days when it will be 90 days from the check in at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney has not clearly stated its policy on the 90+10 window for reservations and it seems the application of the policy is inconsistent. If Disney, and DVC in particular, really values providing a good customer experience they need to clean this policy up.

Each resort is a new reservation and a new trip. So you have to wait 90 days from the start of each stay to get those dining reservations. And you can reserve up to ten more days for the same trip.

The PP is correct. But the OP seems to be saying that when calling through DVC member services they were not permitted to make reservations past the 90 days from the Beach Club reservation (which would be correct.) However, the regular dining line let them make reservations that included the dates of other resort stays past the Beach Club one. But then, when transferred to another CM to reserve recreation, they were not permitted to make that reservation because they needed to call back 90 days from the start date of the room reservation for which they wanted to make the recreation reservation.

They are observing that there is no consistency, but no consistency has always been a problem with Disney reservations, whether you are talking about dining, recreation or rooms and packages. What one CM tells you they can't do, the next one will tell you they can, and the next one will be back to no, we can't.

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean by "90 + 10" reservation window. Does this mean that you call 90 days from your check in date and are allowed to make ressies on the subsequent 10 days on that original call if you have a 10 day stay?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, exactly that.

I'm battling this right now. Staying at 3 different places and the first CM just told me I can't book past the first reservation. So now I'm calling back hoping to get a different CM.

A few years ago my mom and I were doing a split stay at POFQ and CSR. When I called to make our ADRs I told the dining CM about the split stay and asked about making ADRs for the entire trip. He said no problem, but did verify both confirmation numbers. He then allowed me make our ADRs for the entire week.:confused3
