Strange Disney Dining Plan question

My family is going to Disney in less than a month (yippee) and we have regular DDP (1 TS, 1QS, 1 SN). We are staying 1st 2 nights rm only @ ASM & remaining 6 days w/ whole pkg. If we have 6 day dining plan can we start using those credits early? We have 7 TS reservations & I wondered about taking 2 QS points to cover our 1st night (@ Trails End buffet). Is this allowed or do you have to start 1st night we have park hopper b/c it is part of free dining pkg???

Dining credits begin the 1st day you check in for your package so you will not be able to use them while you are ASM.

Also, you cannot exchange any amount of Quick Service credits for Table Service credits.

If you are going to pay out of pocket for table service meal, Trails End is a good one b/c it is one of the least expensive table service meals on property.

Thank you for info. I thought I had previously read qher 2 QS could equal 1 TS, was that an older plan? We were already planning to pay for Trails End & T-Rex but I thought I'd check all options. Thanks again for all the great tips and advice on these boards....I Love them!

You might have read that 1TS = 2QS, which isn't the same thing. I've read on the boards that you can trade down on the dining plan, but not up. If that's true, then 1 TS credit might get you 2 QS meals, but 2 QS meals cannot be combined to get 1 TS meal. I've never tried it, though, so I can't confirm that it's true.

This isn't part of the plan either. However, it has been allowed on ocassion, particularly during very busy times of the year when families have been unable to get a reservation anywhere. You can't count on it, but if you find yourself in a pickle, it doesn't hurt to ask.

You can trade down, but it's a 1 for 1 trade, meaning one TS will get you 1 QS meal. Obviously, not a good use of a TS credit, but it can be done.

When the 2012 dining plan was first posted (end of last year) it specifically said you could use a TS at a QS restaurant. That wording was taken out of the currently posted version, but people have received email answers from Disney which they posted on the dining board stating this policy was still in effect.

Does this mean that if you do not keep track of your QS carefully and accidently try to use one after they have run out that a TS will be deducted automatically? Or will you get some sort of notification from a cm that you are out of QS?

Your receipt will tell you how many you have left, so you don't need to worry about keeping track. If you use a snack credit, the number of remaining snack credits will appear at the bottom of the receipt. If you use a QS credit, the number of remaining QS credits will be at the bottom of the receipt.

I don't know if they would automatically deduct a TS credit if you didn't have any more QS credits.

It took me sitting down and figuring it all out, then I finally had to call a CM and they answered every question without hesitation.
