Strange Britishism

yes I am from Yorkshire and I don't say the letter 't' or 'the'. My friend loves to laugh at me...and I miss letters at the beginning of a word too...for example... I live in a 'ouse'
How many of you know what a ginnel is? That always makes people laugh when I say that I do down one to go 'ome'

It's the same in Lancashire! My DH is from Sussex and really struggled to understand my old Lancastrian Grandad! He would say things like 'inth'ows' for 'in the house'. Sometimes a broad Lancashire or Yorkshire accent can be like listening to another language!!!

and Yorkshire people miss out words completely. they have no word "the" in their language
"going back 't' caravan" i hear that a lot at work as they all stay in the caravans down the road that one bugs me

Maybe more South Yorkshire, I was born here and lived here 44 years and know very few people that talk that way.

May have used some when I was younger but I think the Yorkshire dialect gets weaker as the years go by. Can't think I use any of these words anymore.

I haven't but it sounds like I am at risk of my DD growing a bit older and introducing me You could threaten to donate her t shirt to the t shirt thread on the trip planning board

lol nobody would want it. I'm hoping the Jedward thing phases out although they've just done Eurovision and done better than Blue i believe although I was away at the time
