Stranded at AKV--need advice!

At first DH and I were high fiving by the pool, but when the extra costs sank in, I couldn't sleep the first night for stressing out. Yesterday, DS was really sick, throwing up all day long, and would have really preferred to be in his own bed, poor guy. I had to beg concierge not to charge me for more towels; we had used them to clean him up, etc. No park time yesterday or today--7 AM flight, 4 AM pick up time from DME! So yeah-- not totally what I had hoped.

To answer some of the questions above--
We paid for 24 hours of Internet to make necessary plans for work, etc.-- I know it is supposed to be free "this year", but it wasn't for us.

The value studio with a savannah view is a great bang for the buck-- I loved it.

I don't know if DVC travel insurance would have covered my situation-- I was wondering that, too, since I have never even given it a thought.

RE: SWA and compensation-- I called today and got a spiel about submitting receipts, case-by-case basis, yadda yadda. I tried to explain that I used DVC points, which have value, but didn't get far. I plan to write a friendly, loyal SWA customer type letter in hopes of some type of help. As it is, we were short points next year, and this will really affect our plans.

Any advice from successful SWA supplicants would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for all the replies.

Write that letter (big at a boy from me) As for being short on points you can borrow so you should not be that short for next year if you are then you can Buy points from anougher member and have them transfered if you short 20 points or so you can make that up easy.

Hope the DS feels better too.

Last year we had the disney trip from hell in Disneyland TF green airport had shut down it took us 27 hours to get to LAX with a 9 and a 11 year old crying the whole time.
