Looking at possibly going with one of the Straight Talk Phones from Walmart. Unsure of what phone I will get, but everything about this sounds great and cheaper than current cell phone service.

I am looking for opinions and experiences.
The good the bad and the ugly!!!
Please share.

I switched my out of contract iPhone to straight talk, have had not one single problem.. $45/mo unlimited everything.

We have had Straight Talk for about 2 years now. We like the concept of knowing EXACTLY what we pay. The only problem we have ever had would be not knowing how to tell which phones are with what carriers. Some phones such as the ZTE Android at our Wal-Mart are not Verizon, while the Galaxy Android at our Wal-Mart is Verizon. Other than learning to ask about the carrier before purchasing a phone....we have had know problems.

I have Straight Talk. I have had it for only 2 months so far.

They say it is unlimited but just know that they have cut people off for using over 2gb of data per month.

There is unlimited phone and texting though. I average about 2500-3000 minutes per month......I have a big mouth apparently! :goodvibes

I am using an iphone 4.

For those of you who have had it for a long time, do you pay quarterly to save a few $$ or do you still pay monthly?

I've been paying monthly - because I wasn't sure how it would work. It has been about I've months now. I may buy a different card at some point - but the monthly is just easier.

I'm not sure I understand the question about sim cards. You can purchase one for an out of contract phone or an unlocked phone - and you WILL need the sim card to switch - but I don't know if you can purchase a sim card for ANY out of contract phone or only certain ones.

I just went back to Verizon after having Straight Talk for a few months. I had a Droid and terribly spotty service. Their customer service is TERRIBLE too...you get what you pay for!

We've had Straight Talk since July. We really like it. Our phones are the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim and Verizon towers are used. No problems at all with our service.

My boyfriend uses Straight talk, as does my old roommate. I'm looking to switch to StraightTalk when ever my contract with AT&T expires.

I was paying Sprint more than double and got TERRIBLE customer service. :rotfl:

I am quite sure there are many ATT and Verizon customers can echo that sentiment as well.

I have not had spotty service with ST so far. And as previously mentioned, I talk on the phone A LOT!

My husband and I used Straight Talk because we HATE contracts. Unfortunately, the phones kept breaking! We went through 4 phones in 6 months which is ridiculous for us. Our previous phones lasted YEARS. So we changed to Verizon's non-contract $50 per month plan. The phones have been great! We're very happy.

You can bring your own phone and just buy a SIM card. I have ST running with an iphone.
Verizon's $50 plan is not for smartphones. If you want a smartphone, the pay as you go plan is $80 and only 1GB of data.

you can pay quarterly? Did not know that and need to look into it.

We have probably the cheapest (or 2nd cheapest) phone we could get for StraightTalk - we can do everything but mainly we just call people (you know the old fashioned way). We have the $30 / month plan and never use all of the minutes (in fact I called Disney to book the Visa discount for January and was on the phone for 2 hours and never worried about the minutes). We've been very happy with the phone and the service - had it for at least 2 years. We're on the monthly automatic billing system but if I can save a few bucks going quarterly I will - thanks for the heads up!

The card is $15 and the unlimited plan is $45/mo with a slight discount if you pay quarterly or annually.

I believe they are now less than $15. They were $4.99 last time I checked.

If you already have a SIM you can just take it out and use that one in another phone.

Walmart has been reported to be selling a start up kit.....3 SIM cards (3 different kinds) plus $45 first month for a total of $59.

It contains one regular SIM, one micro SIM and I don't know what the other one is. It may be the new one for the iphone 5.
