Storytellers - Is it REALLY better?

Not comparing to Goofy, since I haven't been there in years, but I will say that the weekday breakfast/brunch at Storytellers is exceptionally blah.

Had it last week, did not have high expectations on the food, and was still pretty underwhelmed.

Unless someone is going primarily for the characters and they don't really care about the food, I'd suggest to anyone that they skip it.
Maybe this is why I keep seeing mixed reviews in that people have expectations and are then let down.

For dinner, we prefer Goofy’s Kitchen. There is just more variety in our opinion. We enjoy Storyteller’s but there are far less foods I enjoy there- I am a picky eater though. As a picky eater at Storytellers, I did order soup, chicken tenders, and fries from the server. But I prefer everything being on the buffet rather than having to bug the waiter for those items. Just my opinion. Both are good options but for the value paid we vastly prefer Goofy’s Kitchen.
We ultimately might choose to do Dinner which makes our choice for us. But if our plan arrives on time I might prefer Breakfast. But if Goofy's has the wider variety regardless of time then that is probably a better option for us.

My experience was that Goofys tries to make too many different items and everything was pretty average. Nothing stood out. Most of the food was cold, also. There were a LOT of desserts, and what felt like complete junk food type items (like donuts, cupcakes, dessert pizzas, etc). It was like a 5 year old came.up with the menu.

Storytellers food felt more high quality. It was all warm and fresh. It felt like homemade food, versus like Golden Corral quality (which is what Goofys felt like).
But what if we like Golden Corral?? lol We don't, but just saying. :)

I've been to both a couple times for breakfast, but unfortunately it was a long time ago (before COVID). Storytellers food was much better than Goofy's IMO, felt like the food was higher quality and they had things like the French toast which was good. Of course, ultimately this is a matter of opinion and maybe things have changed since then. They were buffets back then, not sure of they have changed.
French Toast could sway me...I love French Toast.

Just visited, for Brunch $51/pp, we checked in early for a 12pm seating, seated within 25 mins. of check-in. self parking or valet free for 3hrs. The actual buffet is on the smaller size but the quality and flavors make up for it. We told the staff it was our first visit and they passed out buttons. Our waiter told us to head to the buffet after taking our drink orders and to scan the QRcode for additional items available.

To get the benefit of the served items, I suggest you order right away because it took about 25 min. To come out to the table. They are appetizer sized. The crab cake was good, asparagus was a miss, cheese/spinach crepe, chicken biscuit and cheeseburger were decent. I wish I ordered another round of the beignets and I missed the truffle fries.

I called a day before and the employee said the only carved meat they would have would be chorizo sausage, but they had beef first and towards the end of the Brunch, chorizo.

The highlight was the fresh fruit with mickey waffles, chilaquiles, banana French toast, breakfast potatoes and bacon.

The beef was not tender, eggs Benedict was OK, and the Agua frescas were kinda watery. The fruit loop milk wasn't cold enough.

Missed the oatmeal, made to order omlette, yogurt parfait and salmon poke.

It's now one of our favorite locations to eat and looking forward to dinner in the future.

Get the chilaquiles!

The server did not make anyone aware that it was possible other than ordering beverages.

I knew you could order omelettes, but there are no menus anywhere and they very much do not make any info easily available.
The menu is on the table as a QR code. But it’s the dinner menu, I agree they don’t make it easy to find. My parents wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t done my research on this board.

We had an amazing brunch today. Wonderful character interaction. Quality and quantity. A couple of characters came by more than once. My 7 yo told one of them. 🤣 But that kiddo didn’t choose to interact. My other 2 kids did.

The food was ah-mazing. If I could only have one thing it would have been Chiliquiles. Slightly spicy. We also ordered several things from the menu. They never brought my son his poke and I didn’t push it. They brought the kids rice (GF, dairy free & one is egg & pork free-not much for that kid to eat. ), GF waffles and pancakes. They weren’t Mickey pancakes for any interested. We tried beignets and avocado toast. Both of which I personally wouldn’t get again. I wanted to get crepes but we had ordered so many small plates I couldn’t do it. 🤣 Omelette was good. I noticed even on the buffet that the egg whites seemed a bit burnt and my omelette was too, it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the dish. DH loved the small plate of crab cakes. He had multiple lox & cream cheese bagels (?).

"See, this sounds great to me. I LOVE pico and think it should be an accompaniment in way more dishes. I imagine here, it is supposed to be like a relish. I'd top the biscuits and Gravy with it to freshen up the heaviness of that food."

I love pico, just not on gravy. Maybe biscuits, chicken for sure. It's the gravy that gets me.

I mean, it wouldn't go with a brown gravy, but biscuit gravy is basically just peppery cream sauce.

This is all sounding really good. I booked Goofy's for our last meal before we head home. I'm thinking of seeing if I can switch to Storytellers for an 11:00 brunch.

We booked Storytellers for 11:15 on our check out day. Thought it'd be the start of a nice relaxing day after 3 packed park days. I remember doing Goofy's kitchen as a teen and I loved it, but it was very loud. I'm hoping Storyteller's is more like Topolino's at WDW in the volume department.

So wish I had known this! We did both on our Dec 2021 trip, and enjoyed both very much but this would have put it over the top! Truffle French Fries and Beignets Bites - yes please!

I did not notice Storytellers to be loud when we ate there. To be fair it wasn’t totally full that day.

I want brunch at 11 on our departure day. The closest reservation I could find is 10:45 breakfast. Will we be able to get the brunch menu items, or should I keep searching for an 11am res?
