Storming the Castle

Arrival for Battle
We arrived at our destination on Thursday evening 9:00ish. It was a seaside village labeled the Yacht club. Lots of amenities including the pirate ship that washed ashore and the locals made a kiddie slide through it. We would prepare to embark on an adventure of a grand scale. It was a feat that many a man has tried to do unsuccessfully. We were going to siege Cinderellas castle and all her land over a 3 day battle in the elements that no one should ever have to endure. We decided to hit the local place called Jelly Rolls. This is a great establishment; great drinks friendly barmaids, and great music the whole package all in one.

The army comprised of 3 couples that have survived many battles, Cancun, Las Vegas, Cayman Islands, seasoned veterans. Our skipper had laid out a plan that was to include all the rides that were made for adults and no mingling with the locals(character breakfasts, lunches, or dinners), which was fine by all. After all the libations and singing, it was time to put the plan into action!

Day 1 the Battle Begins
We set our clocks to get ready for breakfast at 8:30. No problem, we had heard from other Noble men that attempted to storm the castle that this time of year was ideal, no lines at the rides, or to eat. We had no intentions of being the 1st one’s there, so we took our time. We toured our lodgings, making our way to a Beach club, on our way there because of the great breakfast buffet we had heard. As we round the bend, we thought we saw lightning, but then realize it is cameras, and kids, and LOCALS (Goofy, Minie, and Chip). We had been brought to our first meal with the locals. The skipper’s first mate (Wife) had inadvertently picked this. It was not as bad as we were thinking. There were a lot of little ones running around and they pretty much stayed away from our food! I must say, this was a good breakfast, food wise. I recommend the Grits with the Cream Cheese. One of the members of our war party thought the Cream Cheese was butter and wondered why it was not melting! Also the breakfast pizzas were great so I heard. They really need to do something about the rodent problem! We assembled and made our way to Epcot, a rather large territory protecting the castle lands. This territory is broken into 2 pieces, with a Future world on one end, and the world showcase at the other. WE chose Future world to attack first. Looking back on this battle it was fairly tame. We started with Test Track (10 minute wait), then went to Mission Space (10 Min, got very disoriented looking at the other people to my left and right), we went to the seas, and then to Soarin(15 min). We somehow also rode the moving carousel in the dome, but most of us napped through it. This was an easy battle, we gathered our gear and headed South to a place called Mexico, we had heard good food and drinks were in this area, and with our recent taking over of the first area on our 3 day battle we needed a good reward. As we enter this Mexican area the tales were true. The Margaritas were great and the Nachos better. The locals took us on a boat ride that was very nice. I have some pictures to post of the dead men playing instruments when I get them I will do. Nice people, nice shops, no wait! Off to Norway, where the locals in Mexico told us beware of three headed men???????

We stopped off on a church and saw nobles who had gone before us. There is a great statue of a marathon runner in front of it. When we got to the town center, we immediately took to the seas and set off to find this monster in a Maelstrom(no wait). We fought hard and tamed the talking trees and three headed monster. None of the spoils here were what we expected, but who goes to Norway for Salmon????

We head to China and find a country still under development. They seem to be building a lizard habitat to put all the lizards running around in. We stopped, and enjoyed a great Egg Roll, TsingTao, and some Chinese wine. The whole party enjoyed the egg rolls A LOT, some saying the best they have had! The beer was great too! Wine was a little sweet, but good as well. I was preparing for the next land and their food and drink.

Germany, land of sauerkraut, and Brats, and Beer and Oompas. I felt like Augustis Gloop going home. I was in heaven……..literally. The whole time this is the only thing that I craved and it was all it claimed to be, pathetic huh! The sauerkraut was great, Brat great, beer was ok, Lowenbrau, and the Strudel was great too! An easy conquest!

Italy, they tried to woo us with wine and we would not be beaten by their tactics. Short stop nothing of note here except the wine and the show!

As we stop in the US we are greeted by some locals. We decide to take some pictures with them as they have no idea that they are under attack. What better way to get into a place than blend in. This was the longest wait all day, to get a picture with all the characters! We enjoyed cold Coors and Bud lights while we blended in!

Off to the land of fish and Sake. We were craving some sushi and were let down a little bit when they did not have the selection of the seas as in Japan (only a few rolls in the faster food area). I highly recommend going inside to the Sake Bar. They give you souvenir cups when you are done and the Sake is 4-8 dollars.

Morocco, what can we get here? We asked the hostess of the restaurant Hanna what is good. She told us to go see her friend Laila in the coffee shop and get the Tangerine dream. Off to find Laila, and when we do are we in for a surprise. Laila is located in a nook and cranny at the end of the counter shop there. She looks like she is training someone and is delighted to make 6 of Hanna’s favorite drinks. This is the most refreshing drink I have had in a long time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TANGERINE DREAM! We settle into a table outside and watch the belly dancer and band.

France, now I have been to France and thought that everyone in France has heard of Chti beer (very good beer), so naturally my first instinct is to ask for Chti beer. What, never heard of Chti beer, are you from France? Huh? Let me call my French born grandmother and make a fool out you. I have to publicly apologize for handing my cell phone to the innocent cast member so my grandmother could speak French. I am the fool and whoever was in line behind us, SORRY. It is a regional beer and not in the South of France where she was from and it is not stocked at Disney! OOPS

Off to the UK, and the Rose and Crown! Smells like fish and chips, great drinks, Say hi to Miss Brody, she will tell you it is all from London. When did Crown Royal come from London? O well, the one thing about this place is there are always people that will talk to you, whether you want to or not. You can share your views on politics, or football (soccer). Also an excellent place to see Illuminations it looks like (behind Harry’s).

Canada was Canada. We went back to the Rose and Crown before heading back to our camp to prepare for a feast at the Yachtsman

Yachtsman, wow!!!! What a meal……..great Scallops for appetizer. I had the porterhouse, and most others had ribeye’s and strips…..All excellent. The brocolini was great, and the potatoes they served with the steaks were awesome. We all got 3 different kinds of potatoes and they were all equally good. I preferred the scalloped ones over all the others, but they were great. Watch out for Pedro de LaPaca! He is an angry diner! Thomas took excellent care of us and also the line cooks, Raul the manager, and who can forget the Chef! It was all an awesome meal and a great way to end the evening, well not quite yet.

After dinner, the lady and I headed to the water to relax. Lo and behold the Skipper came down as well sans first mate. We decided to ride 1 more ride, the Friendships (mainly to see how late they were running). We found out that they were going to Epcot and it was like 10 or 10:30 at night. Then we realize we can get in because of some treaty the locals made with our camp (stay on their property and get longer hours). After hemming and hawing on how many drinks I could have at the Thorny Rose and Shiny Crown it was agreed, I get 1 drink. Off we went, it was nice, nobody there and got some good shopping in at the Sportsman Shoppe and had a great imported from London, Crown and Coke. We debated about how much vomit we could produce if we rode Mission Space and decided to save it for another day as we had a big morning ahead hunting wildlife and such.

Tips to remember…..Tangerine Dream, Illuminations watching in London, wear comfortable shoes.

Wow, and I thought I ate and drank a lot! popcorn:: :rolleyes1 You make me wish I could "storm the castle" in Epcot without my kids some day. Looking forward to your next Adventure.

Day 2 We need to be prepared!

Well after a successful first day we knew this was going to be a ‘walk in the park’ literally. After reading all of the reports, I had heard that we needed to be the 1st in line for the Safari so that we could hunt all the animals out. We needed a little warm up for the next day when the big skirmish would occur Well, we got up early and had breakfast in the room. Very good, the Yacht club has excellent food. This is one of the reasons that this hotel was chosen over some of the other properties. The Steakhouse, the restaurants, the food, an excellent choice by the Skipper. To the lobby at 8:15, and board the bus to Animal Kingdom. This realm of the trip was going to be easy to conquer. As we pull into the lot, the only cars parked are the trams waiting to take people. There was nobody there. We made it with about 10 minutes until the gates opened, and were thoroughly entertained by a talking tree. It was quite a show. The gates opened and we mad a mad dash to another gate. As we were waiting, the crowds got quite a bit larger. Then the show came by and they opened the gates to go into the other sections.

Now, I am generally a good natured person that will let children go in front of me on something, or run by, whatever, you get the picture. Their was a couple with no children that were weaving in and out of people to get to the front of this crowd walking to the Safari. Mind you, there is a HUGE truck full of locals dancing and singing and there is no way to get around the ropes. When we get to the Safari, we try to stay as a group and lo and behold it is the couple. :furious: This guy is a complete donkey and his wife is just as much of one. They manage to push a woman and stroller out of the way and mow us over to get into the same safari car as us. They were the epitome of what you should do when there is a line to get into a line to get into the park, not when you walk on all the rides with 10 minute or less waits. The safari was great. The animals look so real and they even go to the bathroom. The landscapes are nice, very well designed and we got a great picture of the female lion. I will post the pics when I get them. I still could not believe that we caught the poacher. Way to go Simba 1!!

On oour way to the next stop we take pics of the tree of life at a spot between Asia and Africe. Someone had left their rather large fanny pack. We were going to leave it and then the COUPLE came running back. They had left it there in their haste, and we should have pitched his man purse into the lagoon. Oh well serves them right in their haste! :stir:

We went to Expedition Everest, and I wet my pants from the Yeti shadow. It scared the begheezus out of me and it was not even him! Some were able to ride it twice if you wanted to. We then went to Dinosaur and we would like to thank McDonalds for their generous grant. This was a ride that we were like wow, that was fun! After looking for some food, we decide that we should eat at MGM. We had conquered animal Kingdom in less than 3 hours. Sweet!

We make it to MGM and it is starting to get a little warm outside. We eat at the ABC Commissary and it was ok. We ride the Star Wars ride and the best thing about this ride is when they are showing you what to and not to do. When the lady takes the picture and Chewbacca loses it. Also that little thing in the chair next to the lady. That is the best part of this ride. We then navigate our way through to the Tower of terror.

The Tower of terror is a great ride. The amount of detail that has gone into it make it truly an experience from when you enter the line. The desk, the hotel, the boiler room, and then when you make it into the hotel. It was awesome. Excellent use of the elevator doors too! We had a concert to get to so we were not able to spend more time in the hotel.

The Rock N roller coaster was excellent. We had been looking forward to this ride and it was worth it as well. We made it to the concert after taking some back roads and Aerosmith was great

We decide to head back to the hotel pool and relax for dinner. It is 3:00 and we have done all we wanted to do today at the parks and we have time to celebrate at the pool! Our pool is kind of neat, with a slide, a lazy river (that is not so lazy), and an F5 twister whirlpool! Oh and a beach. The best part is the bar under the slide. DO NOT TAKE DRINKS IN THE POOL OR FEED THE DUCKS! The females had gone to nap and get ready and we stayed at the pool drinking. There was some excitement that probably was exaggerated, but we went over at the request of a frantic person because there was supposedly a fight going on the beach between a man and woman. She said that someone was physically assaulting a woman. Being the knights in shining armor we went over to see if we could be of assistance. This guy was tanked and it was like a lovers quarrel over why he wore the shirt he did (wife beater ). Now this is not something that should be laughed about at all, You should not hit a girl, but some people do what they do and this guy was escorted out and we never saw him or Pedro the rest of trip. :thumbsup2

We intended to go to Mexico for dinner with no ADR’s because there was no one at the parks. WRONG, Free dining for someone was going on and they were all packed. WE got stuck in a downpour and made a call to the ADR phone center at7:30. They said that everything is booked and that there is availability at the Yachtsman steakhouse at 8. We took it and ran back to the hotel soaking wet. The girls went to change and we roughed it through dinner soaking wet. This was a great meal again! Liz was an excellent server and the chef even cut us our own steaks! Wow, they went above and beyond here and it showed in every aspect of the night’s meal! GREAT JOB LIZ AND THE YACHTSMAN again! :thumbsup2

We made the decision to sleep in because we had the whole day to attack the Castle. This would be a crucial decision in tomorrows battle as we would come to find out! :wave2:
