I am staying at Beach Club for a week starting August 25th. I am already concerned about the construction and a new concern is the villas also using the pool. Is the pool really big enough for all of those guests? I would rather stay at the Polynesian but traveling with our one year old will mean lots of afternnon breaks at the hotel so I want a really fun pool for my six year old. Any ideas?

Once BCV opens, DVC members staying at other DVC resorts will no longer be able to pool hop to SAB. This is supposed to offset the increase of people at SAB from BCV.

In theory, that sounds like a good idea, but how can they enforce it? How will they even know if the people who are at the pool even belong? My aunt stayed in the AS Sports one year & while her sons were in the parks, she went to the pool at the GF!!!

You must show your I.D. card at Storm Along Bay. The card must show that you are a current guest of the resort. You are then issued a brightly colored wristband and beach towels. They do a very good job of keeping pool gate crashers out of storm along.

I don't know how the addition of DVC will effect the capacity of this pool. I don't honestly believe the crowding was solely due to DVC pool hoppers. We'll see.

There are quiet pools at this resort also. You may find that as the large pool reaches capacity, many folks move to the quiet pools.

The poly volcano pool is cool. The slide is dark and fast. We stayed there with our 2yo and it was the perfect set up for afternoon breaks. Tokelau longhouse(we stayed on the 3rd floor) was quiet at all times, not just afternoon nap time. The arcade was almost just down the stairs from our room #3941. The poly also has a 24 hour snack bar and the resort is soooo relaxing. Just my 2 cents.

Do they "card" at the pools of all of the Deluxe resorts or just some??
I don't think they card at the mods.
Is carding new?

Is carding new?

They are increasing the security at the pools, especially the deluxe pools. Some pools only card at crowded times and some pools have permanent carding.

I got into a discussion with the "CM" when I booked our trip this year & was told that they had extended the seating area of SAB to accommodate the BCVs. I'm not sure where they extended (or even if they have) but she said it had been done already. It was way too crowded when we were ther last July...we could never find a chair.

Can't help you with info about SAB but I must agree with Dylansdad aobut the Poly. We stayed there last year with 6 kids ranging in age from 17 to 2 1/2. They ALL loved the volcano pool. The youngest went on the slide over and over again. She had a great time. Poly is very relaxing. We had a logoon view room and nothing beats sitting in your room or on the beach watching the fireworks at night. It is great for convenience and we were very happy that it had Capn Cooks for a quick bite to eat 24 hrs a day. You'll be happy with either resort I am sure.

I stayed at both the Polynesian and Yacht Club on my recent trip to WDW. The pool at the Poly was nice but seemed tiny in comparison to Stormalong Bay. Stormalong Bay has a huge kiddie pool with a sand bar in the middle so they can also play in the sand. I think that your 6 six old would really enjoy it. I remember seeing a sign that said that the capacity for Stormalong Bay was 1200 people. We never personally had any problems finding a chair and there was an abundance of empty chairs around the area. Of course I realize that this was before the opening of the Beach Club Villas. We purposefully stayed at the Yacht Club before they opened because we were worried about overcrowding too.

Regarding checking resort id's :

We both had to show our id's at Stormalong Bay in order to even get in the pool area. We also had to wear the wrist bands. At the Polynesian we only had to show our id's to get towels and they did not have wristbands. So the Polynesian would have the greatest probability of non resort guests crashing the party.

we saw people jumping the fence by the spas to get into SAB and the only time we were asked to show our id was when i got towels. it was very crowded last year before the villas even open.
thanks, humphrey :D

Thanks for all of the advice. I am switching our reservations to the Polynesian. It should be fun for my six year old with the Lilo and Stitch hype currently gong on.
