That was a wild one tonight. Hope everyone is okay.
Feel bad for anyone in Durham. What a mess that is. :grouphug:

Sure was a wild storm - we had lots of wind and lightning along with the rain here in Guelph but nothing too major.

Hopefully everyone in Durham is ok!!

There were 4 separate tornados.

We are in Oakville and the power went out in a few places. My back yard was flooded, there was about 8-10 inches of water. You couldn't even see the grass. Thankfully, it wasn't inside my house.

We're in Mississauga on the Oakville border (Winston Churchill/403). Sat on our front porch last night watching it all with the kids. What an amazing show of power! Scared our 2 year old a couple of times. Such power but beautiful, devastating yes. I hope Durham gets fixed up soon.

One consolation, I didn't have to water my lawn last night.

My prayers go out to those in Durham (Grey County) and all the other places that had so much destruction.

It seems Vaughn (York Region) was hit the hardest.

We're in Brooklin (Durham) and the storm hit around 7:30PM. The skies were very creepy, a lovely shade of dark green/grey. Oddly enough, I found the storm a few weeks ago worse.

We haven't had anything this bad in Ontario since the Barrie tornado back in the early 80's. But I agree with the PP, I think we'll have more of this in the coming years as the climate changes.

For the record, it's my understanding that the Durham that got hit isn't the Durham Region near Toronto...it's the town of Durham, in Grey County near Owen Sound. If you're looking for it on a map, it's just south of where Highways 6 and 10 meet in Chatsworth.

Sorry, my bad for saying Durham Region...:headache:

Totally agree with you. I found the storm a few weeks back a lot worse. We were at Wal-Mart when it happened. The lights went out and one of the Manager's mentioned a tornado. It was enough to scare my DS, he had a panic attack right in the store. He wanted to go home ASAP! What made things worse they had a hard time getting the doors open. We made it home ok but the lightning was really scarry. I was trying to show that it was no big deal because my DS was so scared. I was glad to get home.
The sky was like something out of a movie. Almost did not seem real!

I am sending my best wishes to all the families affected by this horrible storm.

We're really close to one another. I'm in the Dundas & Trafalgar area.

We live on the 14th floor and I love to watch the storms. The one a few weeks ago was spectaular...... Thursdays was somethin' else. I even video taped a little bit of it. I'm on the York/Etobicoke border, at Scarlett and Eglinton.

My daughter lives in Maple (Vaughan) at Major Mac and Jane. The street north her was hit hard. Many houses lost their roof. Many cars had severe damage. Too close for my comfort.

My daughter lives in Vaughan (Maple) at Major Mac and Jane. She had no damage, but there were small trees uprooted all around her. One street north of her had MAJOR damage. Several houses without a roof. Fences and railings everywhere. Damage done to several cars.
Too close for comfort.

I'm in Milton and the tornado hit here. There were a couple of houses that had their roofs ripped off and the number of trees that were snapped in half was awful. A lot of other damage done as well. We were lucky. I happened to be out in it going to ball diamond. I was supposed to be playing a game. I had to cancel it of course.

Does everyone know what their schools do in the event of a tornado warning when school is back in? We had a tornado warning our area during school June 25th-I happened to be volunteering at school that day in the portable-saw the warning on the computer- the three of us in the portable went in the school and informed the secretary it had been upgraded from watch to warning......she contacted the principal who was at other campus.....and no one did anything........kids stayed inside for recess but were all sitting by windows and there was a celebration going on in the gym and parents were coming in steadily into the gym- apparently the last place you want to be is any roof with wide span..... The teachers were not even with their classes-as it was their lunch- they just have a wandering supervisor for all classes at that time. We were lucky the storm passed- but there was a tornado that touched down that day about 40km from our school. Other schools in the area did do something- go in hallways with the kids. Ours did nothing.
