Hey there!
I hope this is the right place and it's not a duplicate thread, couldn't find anything anywhere else...

My wife and I are landing in Orlando next Sunday for a week in Pop Century. I am starting to get nervous about this storm building up.
Can anyone explain the information given? We don't live in the States and all the definitions and implications are very confusing.. If a storm hits Florida, how does it effect DW?

Thank a lot!

That will give you the best, non-hype info about the path of any storm.

Don't panic. Its highly unlikely that a storm will have any effect on your trip. WDW is in the center of the state and storms seldom cause significant disruption to park operations.

If you are talking about Tropical Storm Karl then it's nothing to worry about. The path had it turning north and never impacting the Orlando area. No need to get nervous about that one. Julia that is currently moving north slowly and also won't impact.

As others can tell you, Disney is very well equipped to handle storms and people are very safe there. WDW has only closed about 5 times in its history and for only a half day or so at a time due to storms. So, nothing on the horizon so worry about at this time.

Thank you very much! This is very reassuring, where I come from a mild hiss shuts down all major cities.
I actually have a lot of confidence in Disney in terms of safety etc. I'm more worried about closings and stuff that could disrupt our honeymoon <3

Thanks again :flower3:

If you are talking about "Karl", it is way to early to know where it is heading, should have a better idea later in the week. Most of the "very" early predictions have it turning north and only a few heading more towards FL. WDW rarely closes their parks but it did back in 1999 for hurricane Floyd, but that was only for 1 day. All resorts will have information if a storm threatens WDW.

Depends on the severity of the storm. We go to WDW almost every year in Sept. We plan for rain/t-storms at some point during the day. If it is rain then it will pretty much be normal park operations. If it is t-storms then they will "temporarily" close the outdoor attractions (BTMRR, 7DMT, Splash Mt. etc..) but indoor rides will still be functioning.

The one perk with rain/t-storms is that the parks tend to clear out some depending on the length of the rains/storms.

We arrive on Saturday September 24th and I have been watching the weather for the last few days. :)

I was there during hurricane Jeanne several years ago. The day the storm arrived, the parks closed early and we were instructed to stay in our rooms. We never lost power during the storm and Disney changed their multiple in-room promo tv channels to uncut non-stop films. Once the storm passed, we were able to move around our resort (POR) by about 6pm. The following day, MK, HS, and Epcot all opened at normal time; AK opened around noon.

Like others posted, due to the location it is rare to truly impact WDW. It was actually where my friend in S Florida went when hurricanes were heading her way.

IF on the rare circumstance a storm is expected to hit you will be asked to STAY in your room (since you are at resort with the door to the outside and not a hall) and they mean IN your room. If it appears that something may happen just fill up with drinks and snacks as you will have no access to them. I always do but I would suggest keeping extra towels in your room, just grab them off the carts.
