We currently have reservations at the Beach Club. I am looking into staying at the Swan. Does anyone have knowledge of both pools to give me an idea of how they compare? My nine year old is in love with Shipwreck Landing, but I am in love with the idea of a teacher's discount at the Swan!! :wizard:

Well, I have stayed at both the Swan and the BCV, and so have utilized the Grotto pool and SAB. I have a DS, now 11, who has also experienced both resorts/pools. Although I have no doubt he would tell you that SAB is far superior to the Grotto pool (his words would be something like: "Dude, it's totally sweet"), I know he would also tell you that he enjoyed his time at the Grotto pool too. The Grotto pool is quite large, and has a pool slide. I personally thought the water was a little cool, and have read other posts that said the same thing. I can understand the pull for you to stay at the Swan, especially if you can get a teacher's discount. I stayed there on the government discount, and would do so again in a heartbeat. The Swan is just a wonderful resort, and the renovated rooms with their heavenly beds are so beautiful. Since you have already been to the BC, I would really encourage you to give the Swan a try, and compare the two resorts for yourself.

Ditto....especially about the cool (temperature) pool.....

the grotto pool is not heated like the disney pools, so it will be cool

we stayed at S/D and loved it and the pool

we also stayed at POR/FQ this OCT and even though it's supposed to be heated it was cool, so its pot luck if the pool you want is heated to your liking

The Grotto pool is beautiful, but just doesn't have the same appeal to me. Perhaps because the water in the Grotto pool is COLD!!!!! :bitelip:

We just recently came back from a stay at the Dolphin after Christmas. We also stayed here in April around Easter. We found the pool to be very nice and fun for kids with the huge waterfall, fun slide, and just a lot of fun sections to splash around in. The teacher's rate can't be beat! $149 per night around Christmas is unheard of! Stormalong Bay is probably all in all a better pool. i.e. better slide, larger, etc. However, the grotto pool is still very fun and getting the teacher's rate at the Swan or Dolphin is well worth it. Most kids would enjoy both pools very much anyway!

We stayed at both. I like SAB better, but you can't beat the discount rate at Swan/Dolphin. Sometimes money can be the deciding factor. :flower3:

I do have a major plus for the grotto pool.....

You can find a lounge chair! :)

Yes, SAB is the better pool, but rates can easily sway someone towards the next best pool and heavenly beds!

Thanks for the info! I am a big wuss about cold water, so if we can afford it BC we will go. But it's nice to know that the Swan would be lovely too. Can't really lose either way.
I like when that happens!
:cool1:
