Storing "stuff" at Castaway Cay

So, where do you keep your stuff at CC? For instance, if we bring our own snorkel grea. I'm pretty sure we won't be wearing it all day, but can I safely leave it by a chair if I just want to go swimming? What about cameras, etc? Are there lockers?

No lockers. We generally just leave our stuff on our chairs. But we don't both tend to be in the water at the same time. And we usually only have a cheap waterproof camera (on a strap on my arm), sunblock, maybe a book, towels.

No lockers on CC. We simply bring what we need and when we aren't using it, camera/sunglasses/phone/goggles, it goes back in our backpack/beachbag. I have read posts where others have ordered KYSS bags that lock onto a beach chair but we just try to keep our things in view.

We left our stuff under a chair. As a rule, I don't leave anything ridiculously important in there. It was ok though. I would be devastated if someone stole my shells!

Do you suppose someone would take my shells...

I'm guessing we will be pretty close to our stuff most of the time, but I just wanted to check. So, it sounds like about the same thing as leaving stuff in your stroller at the parks. Pretty safe but still at your own risk.

How hard is it to take stuff back on to the ship? I'd like to take my good camera around on CC for some pictures, but that's something I don't want to leave unattended at any point and we plan to snorkel together. That's the only thing I'd feel like I'd want locked up.

I see questions like this a good bit and while I'm an overly paranoid person and don't leave my stuff around, I think a better question would be something like "Has anyone had anything stolen that they left sit out on the beach at CC?"

I haven't seen any posts of this sort and I'd think if it was a problem you'd see more complaints. My *GUESS* is that as a general rule people are more worried about their own vacations than taking stuff, however there is always that one person...

The closest I saw was that lady who had her beach bag with all her stuff in it thrown out that was sitting in her state room because it "had sand on it" but again, that wasn't at CC.

That is probably doable depending on how much time you want to take going back to the ship. It's probably worth the peace of mind to do, take a tram back to the ship and then come back. That's the beauty of not having to tender in! No other private island gets to dock!

Wait, what? Who would do that? Do they not permit sand back on the ship? Not that I have any plans to haul sand, but I've been known to harbor traces of sand in crevices of my body such as toes, and um...other places that I'd rather not have sand. Surely I'll have sand on my bag too. That's kind of a given when you go to a beach.

The room host thought it was garbage, basically. After an experience ages ago where change was taken (they assumed it was a tip but I'd made it really hard to get? And ignoring the big tip my parents had left in the living room of the suite we were sharing for the 1.50 or so in pennies?) and then having something thrown away because it was within two feet of the garbage can (despite having luggage closer to the can and having used the can properly), I protect my stuff when in any hotel or on a ship. I don't let things get strewn about or come anywhere near a garbage can or left on the floor.

As others have stated, yes, there is generally no worry leaving your items on your lounge chair. I have always left our snorkel gear, clothes, backpacks, etc. on the lounge with no problem. And, you are usually never far from your stuff.

I do, however, bring my camera bag up to lunch with me if not in my line of sight. It's one thing to keep my point-and-shoot in my backpack, another to leave $2000 worth of dSLR body and lenses laying around. I doubt it would ever get stolen, but in that case, better safe than sorry. Just go with what you are comfortable with.

When it comes to the rooms I think I'm going to just tell my room attendant not to throw ANYTHING out unless it is directly IN the garbage and even then question it since I have a 2 year old...

That's my thought too. Mom's cell phone? Oh, that looks good in the garbage. Seems logical.

As for CC, I ordered a Kyss bag. While it may be fairly safe on CC with 3,000 of my 'closest friends' that may not be the case pool side locally so I figured it couldn't hurt. Still, it's not large enough to fit multiple sets of snorkel gear. Now whether TSA will let me through security with the lock and chain...we'll see.

Yep. It is the dSLR I'm concerned about. The snorkel gear wouldn't be a big loss (and I doubt it would be stolen anyway)

My husband and son left their personal snorkeling gear while we did canoes at CC, we just put them on the hammocks. We did not have any issues. I have a very expensive water proof camera that I purchase because I hated missing good action because I had to leave my camera behind when we went near water. Good thing is if I loose it, because it slips off my wrist, I will be replaced without cost. But I loose my memories. But I have left my camera numerous times and no issues. Just depend on your comfort level.

We got a portable beach safe from Amazon. They're pretty cheap, and they work. Just tie them around a beach chair.

However, when we went, it being our honeymoon, we splurged on a Cabana. It IS expensive, no doubt... however, worth every penny IMHO. Especially since you have lots of space to store your things (including a safe).

Usually they lock to the beach chair with a pretty thick cord. I think someone might question you carrying a beach chair with a safe attached back onboard

We left our stuff on the lounge chairs when we went snorkeling. I would just put your stuff under the towel on your chair or underneath your chair. I would only take what you need while on shore.

I ordered a medium black Kyss bag last Monday and it was delivered to my house by Friday. It is a pretty sturdy nice looking bag. The plan for the bag first includes bringing a picture matt within for character signatures (will not get bent, stuffed in the bag between 2 pieces of cardboard) and while on the ship it will protect my stuff both around the pool, and CC. I will be taking my nook for reading and camera for picture taking. I also plan on running the 5K that morning and don't really want to go back to the ship following the 5K, so it will have my shoes, running apparel enclosed also.
