Storing food in coolers at a resort

We have used a collapsible cooler several times. We like to eat cereal & juice in our room in the morning, so we store those items plus keep a bottle of water cold for going to the parks. We just put ours under the sink or in the closet area & never have had a problem. Usually fill it before leaving the room & before going to bed at night.

We got a little creative with this issue on our last trip. I had bought a styrofoam one for $0.99 prior to the trip and had put it in a box with food to bring with me. Unfortunately we were going a few weeks after 9/11 and with all the restrictions and searches, I decided to leave it at home. When we went to Goodings, they were asking $7.99 for the same thing, so we bought our food, milk (in plastic container), water, capri-suns, etc. and converted one of the trash cans to a cooler. The ice machine was a very quick trip from our room and what we would do is put the perishables at the bottom of the trash can (we of course kept kept the trash bag inside the trash can), then took a plastic Gooding's bag and filled it with ice, then poured the ice over the perishables. We would pour the water out each morning and refill with ice. Everything stayed cold and we saved on renting a fridge or buying a cooler.
