Store Brands - Which ones do you like and trust?

Target's up & up & Market Pantry :thumbsup2

Costco's Kirland :thumbsup2

Kirkland and Publix (especially their Greenwise organic line)

Seems there are a lot of use that buy house brands!

just that making something on the same line does NOT mean it is the same as the name brand.

Yes, that's exactly what it means. I worked in a factory on a machine producing a product for three different companies, with three different price points, and packaging. I never stopped the machine just loaded the case packer with different packaging.

I have always had good luck with Kroger and Meijers. I love Kroger frozen vegetables and at 10 for $10 you can't beat the price!

I'm not picky and am pretty god with just about any store brands of everything. I normally shop at Price Chopper or Hannaford. The only thing I buy name brands of is mayo.

I buy a lot of store brand items. I personally like the Great Value, Up&Up, Market Pantry, and Market District (Giant Eagle) brands.

You worked on a line making butter, obviously there's not a whole lot of variation in "recipe" or ingredients for that. But when you talk about something like Baby Formula (which was the post I was responding to) there can be a lot of variation in recipe/ingredients.

When my girls were little, we gave used the Toys R Us/Babies R Us store brand (especially for baby) diapers and Lipil formula... I compared the labels and the ingredients were almost identical except EFB formula was higher on the recommended nutrients in many cases.

Almost everything in our medicine cabinet is now Up & Up. (Sunscreen, ibuprofen, face cream, children's tylenol etc)

Publix store brand unless name brand is on sale and is cheaper. For most things, the family likes the generic better. Except for peanut butter. I have to have JIF...I'm a choosy mom :rotfl:

The Kirkland brand (Costco) beer is not bad. And the kirkland brand margarita mix is as good as any.

365, Trade Joe's, Archer Farms and UP and UP for us.

We buy very little packaged foods - but what we do is usually the above.

Great value butter quarters at Walmart are made by Cabot! Generic brands are made on the same line as the name brands... The machine never stops producing, they only change the case packaging boxes!

A lot of brands are that way. I remember my Mom being told (by someone who would be in the know) that it was fine to buy a particular store brand (this grocery chain no longer exists-was bought out and re-branded) of laundry detergent. It was Tide, just with a different label. The label truly was the only difference, they even used the orange bottles!:confused3

Maybe it was just my rotten luck or something but I dislike kroger corn, found pieces of cob, bad kernals, lots of yucky stuff in it. Now meijer brand I like. I usually buy store brand also but have found I didn't like meijer laudry soap. DH likes kroger pop tarts over national brand. I buy store brand contact lens solution but every once in while like to use name brand just seems like it refreshes my contacts better ( granted I'm sure it's not exact same stuff)

If you live in maryland or virginia or pa personally you cant go wrong with Wegmans brand products!!!Great quality for the price
I wholeheartedly agree! Wegman's has wonderful, friendly service and the quality of the food keeps me going back!
