I am looking for a way to store all of our toys. The toys are not stackable and are in all crazy shapes and sizes. I am looking for an easy way to store them but accessible for my DD2 to be able to get to them herself. I am afraid if they just get put into storage bins they will be forgotten about and when they are found she will be too old for them. So, I am wondering how you store all of the toys in your house.:wizard:

Each of my DD's has one of these

I have one of these in the basement (along with the matching table) to hold all of the arts/crafts stuff

I had someone build shelves just like these. I love them. The front edge makes it more like a "bin" and keeps things from falling out, yet toys are still easy to grab (AND put away!)

I use lots of plastic bins to keep things together and organized and stack the bins in the playroom closet and in the bottom of our entertainment center in the family room

Honestly you know what we use?? Tons of storage bins! :) My DS3 has two plastic 3 tier shelves in his closet that have drawers. Then, we have two large plastic bins in his closet too for balls and larger toys. Then we have the small bins for several things...one for his "Cars" cars, happy meal toys, and other small things like that.

We just bought the Closet Maid Cubicles from Target last week on sale. I liked the look of them and it is something I can continue to use once he outgrows the toys. I bought two of the 9 cube shelves in the expresso finish and then I bought 5 of the canvas bins for each of them in a dark khaki color. All the toys that have little pieces are organized into the bins. One bin has his DS and accessories. One has action figures. One has accessories for his Imaginext toys, etc. In the cubes that don't have bins I have puzzles, books, and other items that are in their own containers and self contained. For the larger toys that don't fit in this we have on a shelf system so he can just pull off what he wants. We also have some large Rubbermaid bins that we store bigger toys in. We rotate these onto the shelf every month or two. We keep those in the basement so he only has access to the toys that are out. When he starts to get bored with those toys we lug up the bins and swap out the toys.

We also have the bins from Target. One has transformers, one power rangers, chevron cars, cars cars, small balls, etc.

Other things I store in small rubbermaid containers (clear) and stack in his closet. He is easily able to grab and go with what he wants. I have the shoe box size and then the next size up sometimes called the sweater box. It actually just get wider and not taller.

My kids have small rooms (9x9), so we bought DS4 the little tikes giant toy chest, he has (2) 3 drawer plastic carts with wheels (looks like a platic 3 drawer file cabinet), and he puts his large toys in his closet. DD2 has a small toy chest in her room right now, since little tikes currently is out of stock on their pink giant toy chest. She is short (5th percentile) and has no trouble accessing the toys in her brother's toy chest.

We bought a wall storage unit from Ikea ( 2 of them actually) that has 9 cubby holes. Its pretty big but if you have the room its a lifesaver! we have clear plastic bins to hold some toys, one for barbies, one for cars, other cubes are filled with stacked board games, the bottom row is books and puzzles. Its the greatest. I think we paid $100 for it *might be called expedit?*
