If I have a 6 megapixel camera, how many pictures would a 1GB SD card hold at mid-range resolution? High resolution?

I'm trying to decide what size card to buy for my upcoming WDW vacation. I don't mind having extra space, but I don't want to run out and have to buy a card down there.

Thanks a lot!!

On a 6 megapixal camera, a 1 GB should net you about 398 pictures. A 2 GB will get about 810 pictures. Of course most of that depends on the settings of the camera. our 5 megapixal with a 1GB got us about 350 pics, which was quite a few, hehe

if you have the manual, you should look in there,, i am thinking that it probably gives you the answer ,, if not, then shot a few pics at the quality level you want,, put them on you computer and figure the average size of you pics, then just do the math ,,

Before you buy a card that holds more than 2gb, make sure that your camera supports FAT32. If it only uses FAT16, you won't be able to use that extra capacity.

Cards are really cheap, so I would plan on buying enough capacity to shoot everything at high resolution.
