what to do?

We will be stopping in Savannah, GA for two days on our way to our cruise this summer. We have never been there before and are looking forward to it. We really love Charleston, SC so we know we'll love Savannah. Can anyone give us some suggestions as to what we can do while we're there? It will be me, DH, DS (10) and DD (8).

Thanks in advance.

Take a trolley tour - there are a ton of companies that offer them

Here is one:

make sure that they have an "on/off" feature, so then you can get off somewhere that you want to explore and then you can get back on.

There are a ton of "pirate" shops but be careful of the "Pirate House" which is an extremely over priced resteraunt.

Some of the tour companies offer both the trolley tour and a steamboat tour - the kids might like that.

Walking up and down River Street is fun and colorful. At the beginning, there is a little ice cream shop that is to die for. If you walk all the way up, you will see the "Waving Girl" staute and the boats entering and leaving the harbor. If your kids are into historical things then they will be fine, but I found mine (ages 3 & 6) were rather bored after a while.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you staying? Do they have a pool?

Hope this helps some...

You *have* to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant "The Lady & Sons". Here is a link:

While we thought the Lady & Sons was very good...we LOVED Uncle Bubba's! :thumbsup2 Bubba is Paula Deen's brother and his restaurant is right outside of Savannah, towards Tybee Island. Paula's new show is filmed at Bubba's...
Fabulous food...you have to try the calamari! I have never seen it prepared this way and it was fantastic!

Thank you for all of the suggestions. We are staying at a Marriott Suite and I'm not sure if it has a pool. We had already thought about going to Lady and Sons. If we can't get in there we may try Bubba's. Thanks everyone!
