Was wondering if any of you FW veterans had any rec's for campgrounds off 95 in GA? I have been looking at rv park reviews, but was wondering if any of you had personal favorites?
TIA,
Maura

Savannah South KOA - nice campground, easy access to 95, short drive to FW.

The KOA is nice, but if you can go a little further down the road, we love, love, love, Country Oaks campground. The owners are super nice and friendly and the cg is very clean and near gas stations and food if you need them (last chance for cheap GA gas).

Thanks, that is one I am definitely interested in...we normally would drive it all in 1 day, but we have ADR's and plans to go to MNSSHP the day we arrive so we wanted to leave a day earlier and stopover.

I have to respectfully disagree - we just stayed there overnight in June and it wasn't that great. The plus is the proximity to FW. They refused to give us a pull-thru site even though they had plenty. We were put by the lake which is nice and clean, but we had a constant stream of people walking on our site and right by our windows all night to get a view of the water. We went out for gas and when we came back our neighbors had setup their tent on our site right behind our camper  . Quiet hours weren't enforced. Kids were in the playground squeaking the equipment until at least midnight - and adults were yelling like it was highnoon. In the morning our neighbors emerged from their tent and promptly threw all their unused food on the ground invoking every duck within 20 miles to our campsite. The bathrooms were clean. :thumbsup2 Maybe it was just an off night. I would stay there again but insist on a pull-thru site.

We stoped @ Lake Harmony RV Park in Townsend Ga. we called from the road about 30 mins. away a small but nice park and vey helpfull people. They are also a GoodSam Park I forgot my card but they still let me have my discount.

Depending on how far off the interstate you want to go, there is the StatePark on Skidaway Island here in Savannah. There is also a campground on Tybee Island. A bit further South (and closer to I-95) is the State Park at Ft McAllister in Richmond Hill. There is also a StatePark on Jekyll Island that isn't far from I-95.

Just before Georgia in Hampton SC there is also a state park, but, I have never stayed there and it may be too far off the interstate.

We stayed at McIntosh Lake RV Park last year. It's right beside Lake Harmony. McIntosh Lake was $18/night for full hook-up. I think Lake Harmony was about $25/night but it did look a little nicer. I think we'll try Lake Harmony in January for our next trip. Either way, they were nice and cheap plus we pulled out at 8:00 am the next morning and were at the Fort's entrance at 12:30.:thumbsup2

Exit 58 I believe.

Is it too late to give you a suggestion for a GA campground? We live in GA and like the Blythe Island Regional Park & Campground -
800-343-7855 and (912) 279-2812 - 6616 Blythe Island Hwy., SR 303
It is not far off of 95 and is very nice. Hope this helps

I have read good reviews about this park. How far off 95 is it?
Thanks.

It can't be any more than 3 or 4 miles from 95. It's off of exit 29 - coming from the north you turn right onto 17S then turn right onto 303. From that light it's not 2 miles.

We stayed at Point South KOA which is in South Carolina but not too far before Georgia. It was nice and we would stay there again. Although it did make it a little far to drive the next day (we didn't leave super early either) but that being our first big trip in the motorhome we wanted to stop just before dark to get setup. We may try and go further next time so we can get to the Fort earlier or stop there and just get up earlier.

We also love the Point South KOA - we make it in 6 hours to WDW with traffic. This time however, my kids wanted to stay at the beach on the way down and back so we are trying the River's End Campground on Tybee Island. Any opinions? I have heard the mosquitos are bad, but we are scouts and have slept in tents where the mosquitos literally have covered the inside of the tent roof - so we can handle bugs. Any other issues we should know about?

I drive by the River's End about once a week. There is a GREAT restaurant about 1/2 mile away across from the Lighthouse, the North Beach Grill. It's a bit of a hall from I-95 (about 30 miles) and it is not on the beach, but, pretty close (a few hundred yards). There are lots of trees and it is always full. I have never stayed there, but, I know people who have and they think it is ok.

If you are still interested, drop me a note and I'll tell you how to get their without having to drive through the traffic on Bay St.

Conan, thanks for the info - we are definitely staying there - the reservation lady said about a ten minute walk to the beach?
also, our directions have us coming from 95S to I17 S - yes, no? please let me know any and all tips for getting there - we have a 29'tt pulled by a suburban Thanks!

Another vote here for Blythe Island. Large pull through sites and right off route 95.
