Please bring back the debate board.

I can't believe how many good intentioned posts get hijacked and turned into ugly debates. It seems the same people continuously take over and spout their political or religious opinions that often have nothing to do with the original intent of the post.

Innocent people are getting their feelings hurt and are afraid to post here for fear of being spit on. It is just like the road rage I was the target of last week.

I am surprised many of these people are still around. Seems MUCH NICER people have been poofed for far less.

All due respect, it's got VERY little to do with the absence of the debate board. It's gone, it's been gone for a long time, and it's not coming back. And there are a lot more nasty people on the CB (and others) than there ever were on the DB.

It's cyclical, it happens every so often. I've had my feelings hurt quite a bit in the past, and that's when I know it's time to take a break from the DIS, because I was getting to emotionally invested.

Seriously. No flames intended, but it's very naive to think the Community Board was all sweetness and light while the debate board existed. There were always threads here that turned far nastier than anything on the debate board.

imsorry, I'm sorry, but I do have to agree with this as a poster on both boards waaaaay back when.

I think maybe the disrespecting of other posters has gotten a bit out of control, and that's what needs to be better moderated.

IMO the problem is that people have become masters at being very nasty without breaking the personal attack rule.

Bringing back the DB will not solve that.

And before my "friends' show up, yes, I have been known to do the same. Hard to avoid when the whole thread reaches that point.

You know what, some of us are here for fun, not DEBATES. Imsorry is a very nice and funny lady and I am sure she is here to have fun not consistently argue. Thank you for bringing your concpiracy theory over, this is exactly where it needed to be inserted

Actually I think the Debate Board was a pretty good place. It was an exchange of ideas & while there were some people that took things too far, I think most of the posters had a pretty good opinion of others that differed with them on politics and/or religion.

I think it got a bad wrap because of it's name & the fact that a few trouble makers weren't content with a civilized conversation. In reality the Resort board, Cruise board, etc are where the really rough threads came from Some of them have become legendary (or infamous rather) - refillable mugs, 5 to a room, pool hopping... Oddly enough these threads seem to garner a whole lot more ill will than discussions of tax cuts, welfare reform or gay rights ever did on the DB.
