After I met up with my mom at the finish line area, I hobbled my way to the EPCOT bus area (of course POP is way at the end) and we made our way back to the room. I tried an ice bath, yes its just like it sounds!! I was SO sore and this is a little gross, but my feet were covered in blisters. Painful to walk on and just plain gross!!
I talked my mom into calling a cab for our next destination. I am so glad we made this decision, we were off to have afternoon tea at the GF!! My mom loves all things tea related and I thought this was a perfect idea for our trip. We made our way over to GF and were greeted by the sweetest older man, I want to say his name is Richard correct me if you know who I am talking about because he seems to be a little famous over there!! I explained to Tim this man is exactly what you expect in a Disney CM just made me smile talking to him
I have not been to the GF since I was much younger and my mom has never been there, at least not that she remembers. We were both in awe when we walked in the lobby it is just beautiful in there, everything about it was beautiful.
We checked in for tea and were seated fairly quickly. We decided to each order a tea, plus we ordered a cheese & fruit plate, and my mom ordered scones. I wish I had taken pictures of our tea and our table and such, I was just having a great time with mom
After our tea we took the monorail to MK and a bus back to POP. I kid you not any person that would even look like they wanted to talk my mom told them I just finished the marathon that morning and if they seemed even slightly interested at that fact, she proudly announced it was 26 miles etc. I embarrass fairly easily, but I knew she was just so proud of me, which made me very happy. We were in bed early that night, I felt bad but my mom was very understanding and she paid for internet at the hotel to entertain herself on her laptop.
The next morning we woke up and were off to EPCOT for the day! I was very excited to see if I could get my mom on Soarin or Test Track she passed on both last time.
These guys greeted us at the entrance
We went straight to The Land building and I waited outside as my mom offered to grab us fastpasses for Soarin. I felt bad because she is a new to using fastpass, but my feet were killing me and plus it was good practice for her for the September trip when she would be without my help
She came back and did a great job getting those fastpasses somehow I just started walking to Test Track and convinced her to get in line with me. I think we waited 15 to 20 minutes for it. My mom seemed very nervous about it, but the lady who was put in our car in the front row was also nervous, which in turn made my mom feel better for some reason. A nice girl probably around my age was placed on the other side of my mom in the back of the car. She was so sweet and said afterwards Im that crazy random uncle in your family photo now this cracked my mom up!!
My mom really enjoyed test track, she liked that the cars sat low she felt very secure and she was very proud of herself. After our wedding my parents, aunt, and 9 year old cousin are staying at WDW for a few days my little cousin she is not scared of any ride and usually I go with her on rides but my mom is so happy she can at least take her on a few herself and be ok.
We walked around Future World some more, rode Imagination and Finding Nemo seems like it was getting a little crowded in EPCOT this day. Spaceship Earth had a huge line so we skipped over and were going to try it later on in the day.
We went back to use our Soarin' fastpasses and only waited about 10 minutes. We were put in front row middle, so excited, best seats!! My mom is afraid of heights, but she LOVED it. She loved each scene and the smells and didn't mind the "heights" at all!
We headed towards WS and passed by Club Cool my mom had never been there before so we stopped inside. It was a little crazy in there, but we tried all the different sodas she didnt really flinch at the Beverly and I told her I was a little concerned her taste buds might be off
The Christmas tree was up and beautifully decorated
We started in Mexico around WS we didnt ride any of the rides we just wandered and were trying to decide on where to get lunch. We just couldnt decide on something, so we headed towards Japan to try that out. On the way we purchased caramel corn from Germany..so good!!
When we reached Japan we spotted the candy maker and had to watch so impressive!! We ate at Katsura Grill for lunch. I got the teriyaki steak and my mom got the chicken. We both had the green tea. The food was ok..it tasted a little like what you would get at the mall food court honestly and the green tea well didnt really taste like anything.
We headed towards France where I just had to get Grand Marnier slush yummm!!
While I was waiting for my mom to get an ice cream I was enjoying my slushie on a bench when I saw a familiar DIS face and started waving like a crazy lady. Of course Jenny (dismagiclover) and her husband didnt know who the heck I was, but I couldnt get words out
I introduced myself and we chatted for a while about marathon weekend, her trip report from last year about running her first marathon got me thinking about the Disney marathon and well I ended up doing it!! Of course we had to get a picture together, I was so excited I ran into her (and excited she spoke with me after waving like a lunatic)
My mom and I stayed to watch the French acrobatic show and then we were off to the Swan and Dolphin hotel via boat to check out my wedding location
