Hi my name is Lisa and I have a shoe problem.

Yet, on vacation I always have shoe problems. I either packed the wrong ones, not enough or forgot one.
Hence, I end up with blisters. :crutches: Not small inconvenient blisters but huge, can't walk for days blisters.

So I am on a mission to be prepared this time. :-):littleangel:

So I am bringing these two broken in yet still newish so they have good support still. My super soft and comfy summer go to flip flop and my Sketchers. As you can see, I walk on the heel when I slip them on around the house.

First I bought these beaut's on Amazon, Sketchers Yoga Mat Platforms!

Then I thought I'd better get one more pair as a back up, Bernie Mev. They are extremely comfy! I love the detail, it looks Disneyish.

Then I found these on clearance, Reef flip flops. Had to have! They are so squishy! :cloud9:

I am thinking I need another pair of Sketchers. I have some awesome waterproof Keens Bridgeport, however, the rubber sole gives me blisters. So I may need some waterproof sneakers, just in case.

OMG, stop me!

I too have issues...and I take several pairs with me to rotate. Buy some anti-chaffing cream. Body Glide or Monistat Soothing Care Powder Gel (may be called chaffing relief gel). Put this on your foot where straps would rub. If I am wearing socks, I put it all over my foot, put my sock on, then my shoe. No blisters. BUT WARNING - if you wearing flip flops DON'T put it on the bottom of your foot, you will slip out of your shoes. For example if you were wearing your reef sandals, just put a little bit between your toes so the thong part doesn't rub and then where the straps would hit the top of your foot. I swear by this stuff. I like the monistat because the top is small enough I can carry it with me if I need to add some during the day.

Also at night back in the room get some peppermint foot lotion. You can google and find many brands. After taking a shower or soaking your feet and giving them an invigorating scrub in the tub, but the lotion on and go to sleep. Your feet will feel so nice in the morning. Like they can tackle another day!

Also I just discovered Under Armour sneakers. The toebox is larger and my toes can wiggle and move around. They are expensive, but wonderful.

Your problem is the type of shoe you are wearing. For the extended walking around WDW, YOU (apparently- b/c of blistering) can not get away with wearing those types of shoes. Go to a actual shoe store with people qualified to "fit" your foot to a shoe. Not a place with a sales clerk who considers the "fashionable" side of the shoe. Go to a running store and have a trained expert fit you into a good walking or running shoe. Then, break that in for about 50 miles before wearing at WDW.

If you plan on wearing any of the ones on that first shoe montage, then you really do have a shoe problem. :p

Yes.

You end up with blisters because you are looking for a shoe that looks good, rather than a shoe that supports your foot.

I had luck with Sketchers Go Walks on my last trip. Very lightweight shoes. I switched them out with my usual cross trainers.

I brought 8 pairs of shoes on my last trip and wore all 8 pairs! I can relate! I have to switch them out mid day, didn't add in my slippers and pool shoes that would be 10. I put the gel inserts in my shoes and try and soak my feet with some peppermint lotion at the midway break or at night.

I cannot do the go walks not enough support, my knees would be screaming. If you are partial to flip flops try the Vionics, I have a go to pair that I bring every trip they even held up great during a monsoon at AK (best KS ride ever).

Getting fitted at a store that does running shoes is a great idea as well. if you have a New Balance store in your area they carry sandals too. I have had great success with their shoes since I broke my ankle. Dr recommended specific styles and he was spot on.

Any recommendations of stores that has "experts" to fit the shoes? I thought they were generally salesperson who doesn't really know much about personal "fittings".

When I went in April to WDW, I did not enjoy my trip at all because I have spur problems for years and I was in pain the whole time. I have orthotics (by my orthopedic doctor) but it didn't help much. I only too one pair of shoes and I need to have different plan when I go in November.

Does changing shoes help?

Oh my, no wonder you have foot problems at the end of the day. I always rotate between a good pair of saucony running shoes or Brooks running shoes and my Keen Whisper sandals. Disney is not the place for flip flops and platforms and sketchers are not structurally supportive. Hurt feet can ruin a Disney trip.

Has anyone tried Bitly Plantar Fasciitis Socks (1 Pair) Premium Ankle Support foot Compression Sleeve or arch bandages on their WDW trip? I'm very tempted to try them but not sure if it'll help me.

I guess I better take couple of more pair of shoes with me in November.

I manage a shoe store for a living and I must say - the thought of wearing any of those shoes any distances in WDW makes my belly feel icky :D

Of the mentioned brands the Keens are your best bet, but it sounds like they don't fit your feet properly.

When we go to WDW I take one pair of Merrell closed toe sandals, one pair of Keens for days calling for rain and one pair of New Balance trainers - all wellworked in before we go.

I agree with other posters, find a store that will help you will comfort and fit, not fashion.

Good luck!

I have foot issues, but do very well with my keens in the parks. I have done well with some flats from crocs too.I live in Birkenstocks most of the time, yet won't wear them in the parks because the all mine have go by my toe and it would be bothersome. Any good running store will be able to properly fit you for a decent althletic walking shoe.

I have blistering problems and foot/lower back pain issues when I do the kind of walking you do at WDW. Before our last trip my chiropractor recommended Brooks running shoes and custom orthotic insoles. I'm not saying you have to go that far but holy wah, the difference was incredible. I didn't have any problems with blistering or pain the entire trip.

Rotating pairs of shoes can help quite a bit.

If you go to a sports store that carries running shoes they should be able to help you. For example, there is a nice cycling store in my town that carries high tech cycling gear (I swear some of those bikes cost nearly as much as my car) and a full line of Brooks running shoes. The salesman was very knowledgeable, asked me what problem I had in particular, had me walk around a little bit so he could see my gait and such and directed me right to a pair that was so comfy it felt like they were giving my feet a hug.

I'm back!

So glad I listened to y'all. I returned these before I left:

And bought these:

These fit flops were amazing! I wore them to five parks and never had sore feet at all! Not to mention zero blisters but my feet never felt tired. Not the cutest shoes in the world but they are my new "must wears"!!

Oh, lord. I got horrible, evil blisters on my honeymoon many years ago. It hurt so bad, I am really picky about what I wear. Now, I think it depends on your foot, but as crazy as it sounds I have done well in my yellow box sandals. After a couple of days, though, I have to switch to my Asics cross trainers. But I hate when my feet sweat. The ones I'm really loving right now, and will probably wear in September are the crocs I got 3 months ago:

They are so super comfy. I wore them to the beach a couple of times and my feet never hurt. They are called Crocs Meleen.
