Stomach bug....

Does anyone know if there is one going around? I had an appt at the drs. yesterday and got an antibiotic for a sinus infection. (take it all the time, never bothers me). Yesterday I started with stomach cramps and the works... Still feel lousy today and not hungry at all. I have to go look at colleges with DD starting tomorrow and have to decide to stop the antibiotic, or decide if it is just a stomach virus.

Any tummy problems out there?

What antibiotic is it? My DH took Levaquin(sp?) last year and was sick as a dog. He only took 2 doses and had the runs(tmi, lol) for 2 weeks!

Too funny, while I was answering your question, you were answering mine...

As for the antibiotic, no it is just Amoxicillin 500mg... I took it with food but I started with cramps almost immediately. That is why I think it may NOT be the antibiotic, just a coincidence. I am sure whatever I have is being aggravated by it though...

I guess I could stop it, go college shopping til Monday, then go back on it to clear up the sinus infection...

I am sooo worried I will embarrass my DD if I have to run for a bathroom all the time during the campus tours..

I think that's what I would do-stop taking it and see if you feel better, get through the weekend and start it up again. Uggh. Hope you feel better

my sons have problems with chewable amoxicillin. They can take the liquid without a problem but the chewables give them upset stomachs. We're not sure if it was because we filled at a different pharmacy or if it was chewable, we don't take that chance anymore and didn't get chewables again. They are all big enough now to take regular pills, so no worries.

Also we have three middle schools, they are talking about shutting one down right now because there are 250 kids called out sick yesterday. That has to be about 1/4-1/3 of the student body.

Okay doesn't look good on the virus front. I am going to take 2 of the three pills today, then skip tomorrow. I will bring them with me. We are driving so emergency stops can be made, thank the Lord.

Thanks for the talk down. Sometime, it is all that I need to get over the initial worry. I even started dinner and it smells good.

For all of those struggling with the "bugs", my sympathy goes out to you and I hope you heal quickly. Diane.

if you suspect it is the antibiotic - eat yogurt. My physicians have always advised this.

then again, there does seem to be a stomach bug going around this area.

My DD16 has had a tummy problem for the past couple of days -- major stomach cramps and feels like she is going to throw up, but never does. She says she feels better laying down, but it really hurts when she gets up.

She is feeling better today -- lasted about 2 1/2 days. BTW -- we are in the Chicago suburbs.
