Anyone do this while they are pregnant? And...what is a good price for them. It has been soo very long since I have bought any, that I don't know what a good price for them is. Like I know that if I can get a 24 pack of toilet paper for under $5, I'm good. Just a measuring stick, I guess!

I wouldn't stockpile them. You don't know which brand will work with your child (my older son could wear any brand and be fine, but my younger son cannot wear huggies even now that he is 2).

I don't know what a good price is, but I like to buy them at BJs with coupons.

i didn't believe anyone when they told me not to stockpile.. my child cannot wear huggies! every single time he leaks through! luckily I stockpiled a variety of diapers.. we're a pampers family! but if i can find them for under $4 a jumbo pack I usually stock up.. Target combining coupons and sales is a great way to go!

I wouldn't stockpile too much either. You never know what your baby will need. My DD could only wear Huggie Supreme without breaking out (this was before they came out with all natural ones) DS5 could only wear Huggies ultra trim. DS6months can wear anything and I found that the Up & Up (Target brand) are great and so much cheaper. At first I started by having him wear the Up & Up's during the day and then Huggies at night but found that we don't need the Huggies at all.

I most definitely stockpiled. Even if it turns out that your baby can't wear a brand you've bought, if they're unopened you can return/exchange them. At least you could back when I was buying diapers. Ditto sizes - if you overbuy a certain size, you can take unopened packages back. Hopefully things haven't changed. :goodvibes

Don't forget baby wipes, too! And baby bath, etc.

Congratulations!

I also wouldn't stockpile diapers unless you would stumble across a great sale. You just don't know how quickly the baby will grow or what will work the best.

When I had DS I did most of my shopping (grocery and otherwise) at Super Walmart. So everyweek when I went in I would buy a $15-$20 gift card to put away. Then after he was born I just used those to buy the diapers. That kept us covered until well after I went back to work.

I stockpiled diapers for both of mine. Of course, mine could wear any diaper although we preferred Pampers so we used other brands during the day. I think a good price is less than $5 a jumbo pack for either Huggies or Pampers. I got a smoking deal on some Walgreen's diapers at about $1 a pack but that was pretty much the only off brand I have tried. I will tell you that I have some size 4 & 5's that I am using right now that don't seem to be absorbing that well. I don't know if something happens to the diapers over time to affect their absorption but I have had these about 3 years. Right now I'm down to 7 packs and I feel like I'm getting low.

BTW - I have exchanged sizes and brands recently so you can do that. Walmart has a liberal exchange policy and when DS was born I needed a ton of newborn diapers (Pampers). I returned almost a buggy full of other sizes and brands and they let me exchange them for what I wanted.

I stockpile just about everything when I find a great deal on it, especially diapers! $5 for a jumbo pack of Huggies/Pampers is a great price, and I usually find my best deals at the drugstores or by combining Target & manufacturers coupons at Target. As long as the packages are not opened, you will not have issues exchanging them, so just tape your receipts to the packages!

I'd stockpile but my price limit was much lower. $2 a pack was my target price point to stockpile. Thankfully I haven't had to deal with diapers for a while now but I know people are still able to hit that price with a little effort.

Sz 3 is a good size to stockpile at too. Babies are in that size for a long time.

We stockpile and I can not imagine not doing so. Right now I have 8 or so packs left for DD (size 3) and am saving my Huggies coupons for a sale to get more. I have 6 packs of pampers for DD (due in May), and continue tpo buy them when on sale and I have coupons. I love knowing I will not run out of diapers, and they stay in 1's and 3's forever. Walmart will exchange for brand or size without a receipt if needed. After my baby shower with DD, I had 32 packs of diapers, it was a god send!

Even if you don't buy a ton, I'd still buy a few packs of size 1's and 2's. It's just easier not to worry about diapers & wipes the first few weeks after the baby's born.

And like PP's said, Walmart will exchange/return anything!

Or, you know, you could try cloth. We use flatfolds and covers. It's cheap and convenient, no skin irritation, not to mention that whole green angle.

like others said some babies are sensitive to certain brands. If I was to ever have another child i would put money aside into a special acct for the diaper milk etc or i read about just adding money tevery chance you get to a WW or target giftcard so when the baby arrives you'll have money for the diapers.

I stock piled for all three of mine. Big Big Big mistake for my youngest. Both my other kids could only wear huggies - youngest could only wear pampers. Plus Youngest fooled us all on his size. I bought a bunch in the smallest size because the other two were small and took a long time to grow. Well, he was born at over 10 lbs! Never even wore the smallest size. While I was in the hospital they had to run upstairs to the peds unit to get diapers to fit him

My dd 13 could only wear huggies supreme. My dd 10 weeks can wear pretty much anything. I got pampers for my shower and huggies as well, but when I had to buy my own, I became a huge fan of the Up&Up target brand. GREAT diapers. I tried the Babies r Us brand and they were awful.

Their sensitive wipes are great too. Bigger then other brands.

I did! Pampers had a thing going on with their points that you could get a free Jeep ride on-the little one with a motor. I bought enough diapers (in different sizes) so that I could get two of them. I had a closet full about 4 feet up from the floor. And thanks to DS11 not potty training until very very late, we used them all..and then more.

This was after I established that Pampers were OK for both kids.

I did not stockpile before DD was born. DS could only wear one brand of diapers so I didn't want to chance having a stockpile of something that I couldn't use. I did stockpile wipes in sensitive before she was born. That seemed safe enough. She can use anything. Up & Up at Target are decent diapers. We just stockpiled a bunch of Babies R Us diapers. She can wear them and we don't leak at all. We love them. They were on sale a few weeks ago. I figure I have enough diapers to last through until at least September right now. Waiting for a great deal on wipes now to replenish the stockpile. I am down to 10 packages and I use them for everything.

I only stock piled the newborn ones since they didn't sell them at BJ's like they do now so I would get them when they went on sale. I used Pampers for all 3 of mine with out any issues.

I would also stock pile wipes too.

Oh & my kids stayed in size 3 the longest. They were all in newborn diapers for a good month & I am one to change the diaper as soon as they pee (or poo) to prevent irritation & it worked. I did use a ton of diapers but their tushys were all intact.

I did not stockpile, but also warn against it. I was a diaper snob with my DD - only Pampers on her little behind for the first year of her life. Then I switched to White Cloud (Walmart) - they didn't feel as soft as Pampers, but she just pooped in them anyway...so I got over it quick when I realized how much I was saving.

DS came along at 10 lbs, and never wore newborn diapers because they were too small! We used Pampers at first, and then switched to White Cloud after a few months. He broke out in a terrible rash!!! I tried a couple different brands - Pampers and Target brand were the only two we could use with him. Both of my kids wore size 4 the longest - 2's only lasted a couple weeks (must be a big growth spurt around that time).

I like the idea of putting money away on gift cards to use for future diaper purchases. Just remember....there will still be other deals when you are certain you will use them. Good luck and congratulations!!

I don't pay more than $2 or $3 per pack of diapers for huggies or pampers. Usually I try to have this cost get paid for when I do a purchase and have a $5 off $25 purchase type of deal, like at Rite Aid or CVS. I think you could go ahead and get a small stockpile of a variety of diapers going. Maybe set a limit - like spend $50 on diapers, see how many you can get of different kinds/sizes on sale or clearance. Then, if a certain brand does not work, donate it! You are going to have to start with some diapers and yes they do leak with certain brands, but I have found this changes even within the child from time to time. Good luck!
