Do you still do them?

I'm having a tough time trying to figure out what to put in my son's stocking for Christmas. This is one area I usually fall flat on. I have no problem with my daughter's stocking (makeup, hair barettes, costume jewelry, candy), but my son is a different matter.

He's almost 14. I can't put much candy in his stocking as he has a peanut allergy and braces so we are very limited on what he can have. The things he *can* eat seem to be lethal for his braces.

He's not into any sports so I can't get small sports-relates stuff.

His birthday is 4 days before Christmas so he will already be getting a good supply of Itunes giftcards and other gift cards to his favorite places.

So, do have have any neat ideas for stockings for this age group that I'm missing?

Fruit
Socks
Body Wash
Pencil/Pens
Body Spray (axe or whatever)
Soap
Silly Putty
Comb
Gloves

Also some kind of food he really likes -even if it is something like Pickles or Pop tarts might be good

My son is similar. He has the braces, isn't into sports and all that. I'm putting in some stuff from Five Below in his. I saw a Simpsons tear a day calendar and some goofy pen. I am also buying a cert for his favorite magazine (TWS) that I bought a subscription for him.

inexpensive watch
sweatband or ear warmers
Sports bottle/water bottle

Thanks.

I'll look for some nice pens.

I have to be careful with him because of his allergies. One year I did some body washes and he broke out all over the place.

His school also doesn't allow things like Axe or any of the strong stuff that the younger boys seem to love.

I did order him a big box of candy from Vermont Nut Free Chocolate but it comes in packaging that is too large for a stocking.

gift certificates to the movies so he can go with friends, gift cert to a fast food places so when he is out with friends they can get a bite to eat, gift certificates to roller skating, bowling etc so they can go out there, gift cert to a restaurant near one of those places so they can walk from there over to the restaurant and have lunch.

favorite candy/candybar
new wallet
knit hat
new t-shirt (rolled up tight)
school supplies (pens, pencils, etc...)
mulit-tool (like a Leatherman)
flashlight
paperback book by a favorite author
videogame
dvd
cd

This year, the 13 year olds stocking is leaning very much towards Star Wars. He is getting:

A SW deck of cards
A SW t-shirt
2 SW clone figures
2 things of Axe spray - he doesn't wear to school, but out with us.
2 things of deoderant
2 SW bumper stickers
A Boba Fett head candy jar
A pair of SW boxer shorts
A car cup holder water wicking disc.

I know DH has also picked him up a couple of things.

DS17's stocking will have some stuff from www.thinkgeek.com in it. They have really cool little stuff.

How about some type of game? There are a lot of small hand held games on the market, or different kinds of card games. DD18 is a Monty Python fan and I found a card game at Game Daze (store dedicated to every kind of game and puzzle imaginable) called Monty Python Fluxx. I also picked up a tiny Ouija Board game/key chain.

Check out the small boxed items that are usually found toward the front of the store at Borders or Barnes and Noble. Usually they are on revolving racks. The items are usually miniature versions of bigger items (Budda figures, Zen gardens, beach scenes, darts, magnetic sculptures, etc.) and come with a book related to the item. Not sure if I'm explaining it very well, but maybe you know what I'm talking about.:upsidedow I bought my daughter the Zen meditation balls. I also couldn't resist the tiny Charlie Brown Christmas tree complete with tiny red ornament, Linus's blanket, and small A Charlie Brown Christmas book. I bought that for myself.
