Hoping for some advice for easiest way to purchase a Stock Share in Disney for my granddaughter's 1st birthday. It's not until November, but since I know nothing about buying Stock, I thought I'd give myself plenty of time to research. Thank you for any and all helpful information I will receive.

There is a newish company called Stockpile that lets you buy small amounts for 99¢ per trade. I don't know a whole lot about them but you could research it. You can set up a custodial account through them (an adult has to be on it)

My Nana did this for my children...her great-grandchildren. She had an account already with Edward Jones, and she purchased the shares through them. Kids are now in their 20s, and Edward Jones still holds the shares. The first 2 kids had their shares split 3 for 1, and the other two sets of shares have stayed put.

Thank you. I do not have an account, but will keep this in mind as an option. Thanks for the response!

There are actually sites that specialize in just one share. I got one share years ago (I think the last year they issues real stock certificates). I should have opened a brokerage account and bought more when the prices were low, lol.

You pay more than the stock price due to the framing.

But you can always get it through your brokerage and buy the collectible stock certificate from Disney's brokerage here:

and frame it yourself

Thank you so much!! A lot of Great info for me to check into! I really don't know anything about Stocks, I don't have a Broker. But I Really Appreciate you heading me in the right direction of what to search and read about. Thank you!!!

There is a link on the site to buy a collectible certificate proving ownership (per report, this is an extra $50).

Yes, Disney stopped issuing stock certificates years ago. You have to buy one of these commemorative certificates at extra cost to get a paper certificate. I can see why because it had to be costing Disney a lot of money because so many people were buying one share just like OP. We bought our Disney stock 33 years ago, and the certificates were almost a work of art. I bought a whopping 10 shares.....for $1,100. Thanks to splits over the years that is now 120 shares worth over $12,000. That is down sharply since disney stock is only $102 now.

This is Disney stock today. Anybody know why it shows as dropped down to 55 for 15 minutes around 5:30pm?

It seems to be staying around 95 so far; when it goes lower others buy it back up.
