Hello,
Opinions please, with the stock market on the verge of tanking will it prompt more people to sell there DVC ? Will it bring prices for DVC back down to early 2015 PP ?

If it actually crashes and ppl are financially in a precarious position, yes.... But the markets been a bit bipolar as of late

It would take a lot more than what's currently going on. 2007-2009 was a full financial meltdown, causing many companies to lay off employees, many foreclosures due to ridiculous loans made in previous years, etc.

Not that we couldn't have another big selloff, which we certainly could, but that wouldn't necessarily cause DVC prices to plummet.

The ups and downs of the stock market have very little to do with most peoples' personal financial situation. I think you'd have to have a major, long-lasting recession or depression to significantly affect DVC resale prices.

The majority of people are not affected by the ups and downs of the stock market so I don't think that will have much if any impact on DVC prices. In my opinion what has a bigger impact is unemployment rates and wages.

Bingo.

In Sept. 2008, we purchased our AKV DVC. I remember telling our Guide, " I anticipate the stock market to crash, & a major economic meltdown(housing) this fall, probably in Nov. We have the $$$$ in the bank; even IF real estate prices plummet,
I feel DVC would be safer than most." Our Guide never told us that it had just happened a few days before--the epic Sept. 2008 meltdown!! We were still glad we had purchased. Prices ONLY went UP. We bought when the price was $104. We were told it was going up to $108, come Oct. 2008. The crash didn't stop DVD's plans to raise prices. BLT had brisk sales. Resale prices probably won't drop.

I think in some sort of theoretical way, a stock market crash, should hurt DVC sales. Market Crash means low prices, which is the time one should be buying stocks. So if the market crashed as I was looking to buy a dvc contract, I would put the money in the market since it is down, as opposed to buying the dvc contract. That being said, I do not think most people think that way, if they have the money and want to buy, they will.

It is, as mentioned before, unemployment and low wages that would hurt sales.
