STK Orlando

We had dinner at STK in September during Magical Dining month ($33 3-courses): appetizer was roasted beet salad, entree was filet mignon, and dessert was their signature cheesecake.

Everything was great! We had eaten at Shula's in June and felt the STK steak was far superior. We also ordered the mac n cheese and really enjoyed that too.

We also ate at Tiffins, Citricos, and Oceanaire. STK ranked up there right behind Tiffins. :)

Their regular menu prices are fairly high. We definitely will return if they offered the Magical Dining special again.

We ate there in December, the food was excellent. Got the kobe sliders, filet and donuts for dessert. DH got some type of salad, filet and the ice cream cones.

I have read - not experienced - that the main dining room is very loud. There is an in house DJ. I have also read that the atmosphere is nightclub like, rather than like a traditional high end steakhouse.

Had dinner there last year, everything was outstanding. I will mention that there is a DJ who starts around 6 or 6:30pm. It was fairly low key at the beginning but the intensity & volume gets ramped up as the evening progresses. If that's not your idea of a good time, get an early ADR. :)

Curious, in you opinion, is STK worth the 20% premium over Shula's for people who use Tables In Wonderland discount (since STK is not [yet?] apart of TiW)

I'll preface by saying I'm from Santa Maria CA which is famous for Santa Maria-style BBQ. No one, not even my DH, could BBQ as amazingly as my father did and he always began with quality meat.

Quality of meat-wise, I would pick STK. They serve "choice" meats. We had always used the orlandocoupons.com 20% off deal for Shula's so always saved a good amount of money, but, the difference in meat quality was apparent. We discussed the quality with our STK server and he said Shula's is between "select" and "choice."

The other thing to consider is the noise level at STK as others have noted. We had an early dinner and the DJ did lower the volume after other diners complained.

This place is going to have to decide whether it's an upscale eatery or a nightclub. If it's going to continue to be a hybrid they can keep a lid on the dj until 10pm or so.

Thank you.

We split-stay at Swan & Bay Lake, so we typically go to Shula's for one meal. I might reconsider.

I went there in November while driving to St. Augustine...

Here is a copy of my review from my Fall 2016 Trip Report:

STK

On November 22nd, I had to head up to St. Augustine for unfortunate reasons that were previously brought up here in comments. My mother’s husband had been moved into the hospice center after falling and breaking a bone or two and cutting his head. My mother was a wreck, as she has been throughout this entire process since May but now it was much more real to her. As I left work at 2:45PM, it meant I was driving by Disney Springs around 5:45/6PM on my way up to St. Augustine. I needed food as I barely ate a lunch so perfect time to stop by and get something! We had cancelled STK during our November Wine & Dine trip so I figured it was a good choice for a solo meal for me as I had my TIW with me (since it pretty much lives in my wallet) I was able to get a reservation off of OpenTable while I was driving up.

Sarasota is the bane of my existence

I parked off in the parking garage and headed to STK for my dinner. I was a little early but that wasn’t a problem and I was sat at a two top next to a large booth and another two top. I initially was annoyed. I sat for 10 minutes without a single greeting or someone visiting my table. I was not happy. I think the table next to me thought I was strange when I voiced a question about it thinking we may have the same server and wanted to know if they had issues with her. Turns out our server was different and two people out there in the world think I’m strange. Not the first and won’t be the last! (I was also aware that this dinner was going to be my last ‘me’ moment for the next few days)

When my server arrived, I placed my entire order.

I also did something nice for myself and ordered a $45 glass of Dom Perignon. What I didn’t like was that they didn’t pour the glass in front of you.

The bread was topped in blue cheese butter and had a chive oil to dip it in. Being a blue cheese hater, I was creative on how to try the bread and avoid the blue cheese! I took a piece and turned it upside down and picked around! (I realize I’m a child sometimes) The bread with the chive oil was really good!

I ordered a side of the parmesan truffle fries with my steak. They came out a bit different than I was expecting as they were huge fries! I had to wait for them to cool down some before I enjoyed it. I was very happy!

For my main, I went with a filet. I mean you can’t go to STK for the first time and not order steak when you are a red meat eater! The filet was really tender and I was really happy with their bearnaise!

After dinner, I stopped by the new pastry shop before leaving to get a couple nice things for my mother and I to eat despite knowing we would spend most of the next few days at hospice.

And that’s the end of Fall 2016 Disney for Dis_Yoda! In a month, I’ll be posting my trip report for Disneyland! This Disneyland trip will be a bit different as we are doing some things outside of the park such as the Warner Brothers Studio Tour, Universal Hollywood VIP tour, Steakhouse 55 Tea Party, and some other fun things!

Link for that is here: http://disboards.com/threads/that’s-not-how-the-force-works-january-2017-rebel-challenge-more.3565065/

STK is good. It is quite overpriced for what it is - but not that exceptionally much more than other Disney locations. The nightclub-restaurant combo is part of their staple. It's not my personal taste. And, I have one 3 blocks from my condo here in Atlanta. But, it's not a bad place quality wise if you know what you are getting into.
