Stitchs Great Escape

Anyone heard any news on this lately.
I am an AP Holder and DVC member going 9/24 - 10/1. It is mentioned in the DVC Vacation Magic and the AP Mickey Monitor that there will be special preview days.
I was hoping to be able to catch it this trio but so far I have been unable to find out any more info. Any CMs out there?

I have heard that this attraction opening has been delayed, so who knows when previews will start. Previews can range from a month prior to just a few days. Sorry can't be of more help.

I have read (I believe on the Disney website) that this attraction will be kid friendly where as Alien Encounter was not. What exacly does kid friendly mean?

My kids love Lilo and Stich and will probably greatly enjoy this ride. I'm a little worried because I also read (on this board several months ago) that they are reusing the the seating which Alien Encounter had. That seating was part of the reason for the Alien Encounter height requirement.

My children are 46" and 39", they will be really upset if they are too short. Has anyone heard if this "kid friendly" ride will have height requirements making it "unfriendly" for my kids?

I think I read that it's 44 inches. They are using the same seats that the Extra did. Therefore the height requirement should be the same. Sorry.

I thought that it was soon to open when I saw the Disney Channel running L&S all day Monday.

I am thinking just because they switched it to Stich, that it may be still too scary for little ones. If they keep the chairs, then they might keep some effects, and those can be scary too little ones.

I still don't think alot of the kids that did cry with alien, were scared of the monster. I think it was the dark, the very loud sounds, the air/water in your face. Other adults screaming. The monster just added a little fright.

How can it be considered delayed when the only date Disney has ever given was Fall, 2004? The last time, I checked Fall runs until around Dec. 21st, so there is still plenty of time for this attraction to open on time. Any other dates come from unofficial websites, and should be treated as such. The rumor now is sometime in mid-November, but it's only a rumor. If that's so, then soft openings should be at least by Nov. 1st.

The new Stitch attraction is not a "ride" - it is basically the same attraction as Alien Encounter was but they have changed the theming a bit to try and make it "lighter" and not as menacing as the Alien was.

I read a report on another board (can't find it now) but the room, seating, lighting and special effects will still be very similar to AE. The seats with the bars that come down onto your shoulders will still be there, so if you get that claustrophopic, locked in feeling - you might reconsider this one.

The main difference is that it will be Stitch instead of a scary alien. (Unless you consider Stitch a scary alien, lol). And instead of the alien getting out and terrorizing the audience, Stitch gets out and "creates havoc".

This will still include periods of darkness with sounds coming from all over and getting sprayed with water (suppose to be some kind of plasma cannons). Also some "smells".

So, if the fear someone (or children) experienced w/AE was the alien, and if you enjoy Stitch, it might be okay. However, if the problem is the seats that lock you in, the periods of darkness and special effects, you may still have a bit of a problem with this attraction.

The DVC Vacation Magic says that it's opening in October.

I was at WDW Aug 21 - 27 and when I saw it from the ride that goes through Tomorrowland, it didn't look even close to being ready at least on the outside.

I can't wait to experience this and I'm still hoping to on our Oct 30 - Nov 4 trip, if not it will have to wait till Nov 2005.

There are going to be some very unhappy campers at my house if this is not open for our mid-October trip . My dd is a Stitch freak (I guess I am too, we have too many Stich stuffed animals to count LOL) and after this trip, we won't make it back for 2 years. I'd be very happy if at least the AP preview was when we were there, as we have AP's.

I got this info from a few different websites. I like ths date and I am going to hope, pray and wish for it. We are going to WDW Oct 22-29 and I NEED TO RIDE SGE!!!!

I agree Evilina, we arrive on 10/6, I hope, hope, hope that it is open for business. I have 7 & 9 year olds that are dying to ride it!

On the employee official website it still says Fall 2004! You can't get much more official than that. We are there until the end of october, so we'll probably miss it too. There's always another trip right around the corner for us, so will catch it in January 2005.

My family has been in the construction buisness for 30 years. I can tell you that with 2 big canes, and maybe 3, that all construction will be delayed for weeks and weeks. With a state of emergancy, I would be surprised if the crews were still at full manpower to complete the job. I know there are time completion lines in contracts, but big storms, have always pushed dates back by weeks.

I never was on the Alien ride so I don't get why you have to have your shoulders locked in. Even Star Tours in DL doesn't have that, just a seat belt and you're moving all over the place in that chair. Can anyone explain?

I think some of the special effects (warm air blown on the back of the neck) come from the neck thingy to.

When it was AE, the shoulder bars would press down on you at certain points in the show, also there were blasts of air. It was to give you the impression that the alien was right there breathing down your neck and leaning on you.

The CM's made sure the bars were down very snug on your shoulders so that when it automatically pressed down on you, you would definitely feel the effect.

Some of us didn't notice this effect too much (maybe the bars weren't tight enough to begin with) but others felt it was too heavy and too much pressure bearing down on you - uncomfortable to the point of almost hurting.

If someone has problems with being locked in or claustrophobia, this would be a bad attraction to do.

I never quite understood why the bars had to be so big and confining - the only bars I've encountered that were that heavy duty were on major roller coasters.
