When it comes to rollercoasters and rides, I'll go on anything.

However, when I was in WDW 8 years ago, I went on what was then Alien Encounter and has now been replaced with Stitch's Great Escape. :stitch:

Let me just say that I had an absolute horrible time :sad2: on Alien Encounter. I hated feeling strapped in, especially with the harness. I hated being in the complete dark, all the hissing sounds, things popping out at me, feeling something wet on my face, etc. It sounds absolutely ridiculous, especially being that I was 17 years old at the time (not like I was a little kid), but I was absolutely terrified. :scared: I was screaming like a maniac, and by the end of the ride, I was in complete hysterics.

I don't know if I was over-reacting or what, but I scared to go on Stitch's Great Escape. Last time we were in WDW, while in line I asked some parents and kids in Magic Kingdom if they had gone on SGE and how it was. Most people said it was "no big deal".

What did you think of it? :confused3 Would you recommend me giving it a 2nd chance?

I was quite disappointed with the Stitch attraction. Basically the set up is the same, just with new characters. You are still in the dark and still have the harness over your shoulders. IMHO, this is an attraction that should have been better than it is.

Okay well I havent been on it!But im sure it's fine.I have heard that it stinks though..but idk..It seem's cute lol,you get sparyed on and tickled and stuff becuase stich get's lose and plays with his guests,lol..=]

Nothing like alien incounter I think:)

This time you will be bored to death. You'll be napping.

Here, let me take this frying pan and smash you across the face.

No seriously, it would be over quicker and more enjoyable than SGE.

You'll thank me! :)

One thing that was true last time and this time. The harness hurt me :(

Oh God, I was like waiting and waiting for something to happen and when it was done I was like... what that was it... I was bored to death :sad2:  :bored: :bored: ... However my DSs and Nieces and Nephews loved it...Kids and Stitch go together... Next time I will sit this one out... wait a minute that's what I did... :lmao:

Geez!! Really?! Can't believe it could change so drastically! I was traumatized from AE!!

Yes really, you've seen Lilo & Stitch, right? you know he's a mischievious caroon alien with bad manners? So this cartoon character is in the room with you burping chili dogs.. it's gross not scary and seriously the worst attraction in all of WDW :sad2:

The harnesses are still there, but if you hunch your shoulders WAY up while they're being adjusted, they won't sit on your shoulders during the show. I have the harness way up by my ears when I have to do the attraction. You do miss some of the show's elements that way, but that's fine with me.

Stitch also isn't in complete darkness like AE was. AE was seriously scary stuff. Stitch is just gross. (Disclaimer: children may love it. Other adults may love it. This is fine, but I don't love it.) There is dim lighting, but you can definitely see everyone in the room. AE was pitch-black.

So yes, it's totally different. Some elements are the same, but the real scare-the-snot-out-of-you stuff is no more.

Did it once will not go back.

Don't go! If you were scared on AE, you'll still be scared on SGE, although SGE is lame and stinks. It is still dark, you're still strapped down, things are still blowing on you, touching you, and smelling awful!

OMG! I was nearly 30 the last time I was at Disney and I went on AE. I was absolutely terrified. I literally had to keep saying to myself "You're at Disneyworld. Nothing will hurt you here! You're at Disney! You're at Disney!" My heart was pounding like crazy and I couldn't calm myself for a while afterwards.

I've decided to skip Stitch because my kids hate total darkness and I don't think they'd like this attraction. If they decide to do it, I'll sit out and let DH take them.

Never saw AE but I am a real chicken and Stitch is not bad, just gross. Yucky smells and water/mist squirting at you.

The key, as the poster above said, is to sit as tall as possible and shrug your shoulders up unnaturally high while the harness sits down. Wait until the show starts and it's definitely down. This eliminates 75% of the unpleasantness, for me. I think, though, there is a part where Stitch "jumps" on your harness. Be prepared to hunch your shoulders up a bit then so it doesn't automatically lower.

AE while it was scary was such a better ride than this awful ride (and that is being nice). I rode it a few years ago when it was just changing over to SGE and it still had bits of AE in it and it was great. 3 weeks ago when bf and I rode it we swore we would never ride it again. It is stupid and completely gross. We felt sick the rest of the day.

My 7 yr old liked it, my older DD summed it up as it was "cute" You won't be scared.

Yes!! Thank you for confirming that AE was scary, and I wasn't being a big baby!!

However, I think I'm just going to skip out on this one. I think I've been too traumatized from AE. Plus talking about all these gross smells , and smelling them all day...yuck! I think I'll pass! :thumbsup2

Oh no kidding, I even held my hands up and pushed up on the harness as it was coming down last time so I would register as someone closer to 6'5 than 5'2, and every time the harness bounced it inched lower and lower. I was still wedged down in my seat and in pain at the end of the attraction (this is when it was AE).
