Stitch is Troubled - He Needs Desserts!! Dining Review - Nov. 24-29, 2015 - Columbia Harbor House

50's Prime Time Dinner

So a little back story on our dinner. Originally, I had Raglan Road for this night. But we planned on going to Hollywood Studios to see the lights and I thought, well maybe it would be better to have dinner at the park. So it took a couple weeks of checking, but I finally snagged this ressie about 2 weeks before we left. Our ADR was for 3:30 PM. I figured it would give us plenty of time to eat and then hang out and wait for the lights to come on. Because you want to be there when they come on. Because it is one of the coolest things ever.

Anyway, we checked in and were seated right away.

Our waitress was great. Her name was Sabrina and we really loved her. She was super fun and had a great sense of humor.

We got the onion rings for an appetizer.

Battered Onion Rings- served with horseradish sauce $6.99

We all got drinks – just cokes and stuff. But DD got a chocolate milkshake. It was really thick and delicious.

For our entrées, DH and I shared the sampler platter.

A Sampling of Mom's Favorite Recipes- Crispy-fried Chicken, Fork Tender Pot Roast, and Traditional Meatloaf with all the fixings $21.99

I’m so glad we split this because it was a TON of food. And it was all really good. We really liked it.

Grumpy Cat got the Fried Chicken.

Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken- served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, chicken gravy and seasonal vegetables $19.99

He seemed to enjoy it. He scarfed it down and left to catch a bus back to the room in true Grumpy Cat fashion. Whatever.

DD got an adult portion for the macaroni.

Just your basic Stouffer’s tasting stuff. But she seems to like it.

For dessert, DH got the Apple Crisp

Traditional Warm Apple Crisp- A la mode for $7.49; $5.49

Very warm and delicious.

I got Dad’s Brownie Sundae

Dad's Brownie Sundae- chocolate brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Caramel sauce, whipped cream and toppings $6.49

Fabulous as always. The popcorn was chewy and not crunchy, but it was for decoration anyway. It was huge and I couldn’t finish it.

DD got the Cheesecake.

No Sugar Added Cheesecake- topped with fresh whipped cream and strawberry sauce $5.49

She didn’t want the strawberry sauce because she has the taste buds of a five year old.

It was good though. Some more décor.

This was one of our best meals here. Everything worked out perfectly and tasted wonderful. We got finished about 5:00 PM and looked around in the shops some and then we meandered over to the Streets of America to wait for the Christmas Lights to come on.

Weren't we punished enough during the toddler years? :scared:

Aren't those two phases remarkably similar?

We find our emo teen is better at Disney if we let him take off on his own for chunks of time. He always returns in time to be fed!

They really are. Ours does the same thing. Goes off to do his own thing and shows up only for food. And to tell the truth, I like it better when he goes off on his own with his grumpy self.

Love the 50's pics! I think they have the best onion rings. We'll have to get dessert there sometime because your desserts looked delicious. Love the sampler- so much food but I love that you get a little of everything.

That is why we always get the sample - to get a little of everything. And I agree that their onion rings are the best. Desserts were very tasty. Mine was HUGE. I could not finish.

Great start!
Quick question, when you share an entree do they charge for the extra plate?
I'm thinking this may be an option for our upcoming trip, DD is 13 and couldn't possibly eat an adult dinner and I don't eat much at all so sharing would make sense.

No they just charged us three credits. We have done this on almost every trip. That way, at the end, we have enough credits for a whole extra ADR. They give you tons of food, so you never go hungry. They won't do this at the buffet or all you care to eat places. If you have four people, they charge you four credits. You can't share at those places.

Yum! We love those nachos too.. so much that my fiance had them 3 times on our last trip :o Quick and simple but very tasty.

We never miss the chance to get lunch there at least once a trip!!

Snacking around the World Showcase

After exploring Canada and the UK, we toured to France where we got my favorite – the Grey Goose Slushie.

While DH and I were sharing that, DD needed to get a Kakigori in Japan.

It is finely shaved ice and comes in several flavors and they put sweet cream on top too if you want. DD chose cherry. And it is a snack credit.

Moving on through the showcase.

My husband had just returned home from a business trip to Italy and Germany so he enjoyed telling us about the actual landmarks that inspired the replicas in the pavilions. He gets to travel all kinds of coo places with his new job. I have to stay home with the kids.

At this point, DD and I went in to Karamell Kuche for some delicious caramel snacks while DH waited in line to get us an Oktoberfest and a pretzel to share. You see the sky, there? Nice and blue?

DD and I get these. A chocolate and Caramel covered s’more.

We also got a plain piece of caramel and a chocolate covered caramel

So much YUM. So while were in there getting our treats, the sky just opens up and BAM – torrential downpour. Ah Florida. So we waited it out for a few minutes and joined up with DH who had gotten the pretzel and beer.

I know that typically, in Europe beer is served warmer than we serve it here. But I have to say, I just love it cold. And the Germany pavilion serves is nice and cold. And it goes so good with a doughy salty soft pretzel.

All of these things with the exception of the alcohol drinks are a snack credit.

Following along. Great reviews so far! It looks like a fun family trip- do you have a TR that coincides with this DR? :)

On this day we head over to Beach Club to eat at Cape May Café

We checked in and discovered that our DS had already gotten us a table – YAY!!

So we all sat down and enjoyed our dinner. We really love Cape May and the kids insist on eating there at least once every trip. We are never disappointed. The service is always good, the food is always good and plentiful and we really enjoy the desserts there.

Clockwise from the above photo. Oreo cupcake, Red Velvet cupcake, flourless chocolate cake and I think a boston crème cake. All were delicious. I didn’t take photos of the food clumps on my plate, Sorry. After dinner we enjoyed the Christmas decorations.

Oh and apparently at some point, we went over to the France Pavilion to get some macaroons. We waited until we got home to enjoy these, but they were very delicious even after a couple of days and I wish I had gotten more.

After that we headed back to the resort.

Cape May sounds delicious!! I love seafood so I have been wanting to try it but my fiance hates it so he is a little reluctant. But I think there are so many options there that he wouldn't be disappointed.

Everything you got at Karamell Kuche just sounds so awesome! My fave in Germany is the Schofferhofer Grapefruit beer.. Yum

My childern are the pickiest things on earth. They despise all seafood. But they LOVE this place!! They have plenty of other options.

I love the caramels. Soooo YUM. Haven't tried that grapefruit beer, but everyone talks about it so I might have to.
