Stinkbugs in my house - not happy

I'm looking to see if anyone has had this problem. We have a regular pest control service because I really hate bugs. They come 4x year to spray/look around - it makes me feel better. During the fall these stinkbugs were landing on the outside of my house and then making there way in. Spoke to my pest co. who basically said they are in the area and there isn't much to do about them. They'd go away once cold weather came. Well now it's Jan. and freezing and i find at least one a day in my house - not a huge problem but I don't want them in the house.

Any ideas? My pest co. will get a call from me soon to just see if maybe my tech. just didn't know what to do at that time. There's got to be something ( I hope). I'm willing to pay extra $

Thanks.

My MIL's neighbor had them bad. I know she used a pest control company to help get rid of them. Me? I just pick them up and toss them outside.

These are asian stinkbugs and are VERY invasive. They come in the house in the fall to get out of the cold and will live in the walls (yuck!) Ironically, i just killed on yesterday. My grandparents live near where they originated in the US (Allentown, PA) and literally get dozens every day.

Most pest control people recommend waiting until spring/summer when they go back out to the yard and treating your yard rather than treating in house. Reason is that other bugs will come dine on the dead bugs in your walls if you try to kill them in the house.

Only thing that can help is to caulk and seal windows and crevices. And vacuum the suckers up.

Yuck, we get a few of these in our house every summer/fall. I wouldn't suggest vacuuming them though. My experience is when I vacuum them, the next time I turn on the vacuum it stinks of stinkbugs! Same thing with ladybugs. I usually just pick them up with a piece of toiletpaper and flush em or toss them outside.

I can't tell you how many times one of us had a stinkbug crawling on our shoulder or shirt. Yuck!

I know i've posted in the past about them as well and we've tried a pest control service and there is really not much that can be done because as PP's said, they live dormant in the walls even during the dead of winter. We also get the boxelder bugs too. In late September it peaks and we get a bunch that come in through the chimney and i've also found a few the last couple of days even though we've had freezing temps for weeks.

Wish there was something we could do, I do think the caulking would help and we may try that around the fireplace cracks this year.

Another Marylander here with Stink Bugs. We found 2 of them in the house just this past Monday. My DD is home from college; she just picked them up and them them outside. She is an entomology major and LOVES insects.

I've been putting them outside and my DH said (jokingly) it's prob. only the same one coming back in.

I've lived in my house since '94 and last year was the first year we had stinkbugs. Last fall was worse than the year before. I hope this coming fall doesn't get too bad.

Since we moved upi here we have problems with them here but never had the before (an hour away).

Do you live near the forrest/woods. We do and Ia m thinking tht is why we see them here and not in the bigger city we used to live in. Never even heard of them in York.

I'm having the same problem here in Jersey! I've lived in my home for 5 years and this was the first summer that we had stinkbugs inside!! And now just great they might be living in the walls.......we're getting a few now in January.

I have actually read a couple articles in the last few months about how much worse they have been this year especially in Maryland.

Oh my, I thought it was just a fluke. Yesterday I found one on my kitchen floor, I'm in Eastern Central Pa. At first I thought it maybe just dropped out of my curtains but when I went to move it the darn thing started moving:scared1: I hope they are not living in my walls, but if they are does anyone know if they are destructive or do they just eat other pests? If they eat spiders but don't hurt my house they are welcome.

I'm assuming we're all talking about the same stupid little bug? Brownish with orange stripe? I've heard them called stinkbugs, halloween bugs, along with others. We get them every late spring and all of summer. This is the first year we've had them this late. We get COVERED with them when the warm weather gets here. I despise them. I decided to look them up on the internet to see what they actually were. I guess they're called boxelder bugs. They're more of a pest than anything. I hate bugs to begin with but these things just get on my nerves. I read that they come from the boxelder tree (which ironically we have 2 on the side of our house) We know someone who is an exterminator and he told us that he can spray, but it's basically a waste of money since they'll be back within days. I feel ya pain!!!
