Is there any cheap way to get rid of stink bug? They are infesting my car and I can't stand it! Every day another one crawls out of wherever they are hiding and creeps up on my while I am driving. I am going to have an accident if I don't get rid of them soon:sad2:

Do you guys have the Chinese marmorated stink bugs like my parents do in Bethlehem? You can't spray your house for them because their dead carcasses attract bugs that will ruin the structure of your house (i.e. like termites). However I don't see why you can't bug bomb the inside of your car while you're sleeping to make it deadly for those stink bugs.

We have them here in Maryland. I now hate the warm weather because I become the bug rangler. I wonder if we will ever get rid of them? What a pain. Good luck with the car.

We have them here in VA, too. In fact we saw at least one a month over the winter. They never went away! We just vacuum them up when we see them.

I sucked up a big one with the vacuum in our bedroom last night. I was told to get something like Ortho defense max and spray all around the foundation of the house. If anyone has other suggestions I would love to hear them.

I just read another article on them over the weekend that clearly stated that there is currently no product that works to get rid of them; they are working on developing something. When sprayed with insecticide, they sometimes come back to life after up to a week. Vacuuming them up or spraying them with a solution of soapy water is what is recommended, and sealing up your house openings. I don't know what to do about a car though, that is awful. The few we have in our house bother me enough (we probably kill 5-10 a week).

Here's one article I found, but it wasn't the same one I read - but lots of good info there.

We live in MD too. HATE THEM.............. I too have had two in my van. :scared1: I have probabaly killed at least a dozen in my house over the past 2 months. I heard they are supposed to be really bad here this year in Maryland. I flush them when I get them in the house.

we have used the Ortho home defense, both outside along our foundation and even in our unfinished basement to no avail. I have asked our exterminator and as a PP has stated, there is no way to get rid of them. Although he did say if you have a chimney that you haven't used in awhile, light a fire. They seek the warmth of the chimney during the winter and then "hang out" in there until this time of year. The fire will get rid of any living in your chimney!

Yup - the way they are built makes them nearly impossible to kill. They can be killed by contact sprays, but residual pesticides do nothing.

Careful with the vaccuum - after a couple the vacuum starts to smell like stink bugs and it then penetrates every room. We learned that last year.

DH is the designated stink bug killer. All go in the toilet. He can't smell them - I can smell them when they are in the room!

An exterminator friend told me to try Bounce fabric sheets between the window sashes and the screens. That's where they were hanging out on summer afternoons. The Bounce repells them, doesn't kill them. It has to be Bounce and not another brand. It did cut down on their numbers. We aren't seeing nearly as many this spring.

Stink Bug = Invasive Insect. No recommended way to get rid of them. They are only going to continue to get worse.

Other invasives - Asian Long Horned Beetle; Emerald Ash Borer, Snake Head Fish, kudzu, zebra mussels.

Search invasive species (state) and find out what is a problem in your state or what you should be on the lookout for. It is important to stay on top of this.

Stink bugs are such a pain in the behind. I too have had them in the car. Same fear is I will have an accident when they land on me.
p.s. Another MD'er here

Oh no! I haven't seen any in my car...YET, but they are in the house. We've had about one per day all through the winter and spring. DH is the only one in our house who will get them and flush them. Even my teenage boys won't do it.

I've been avoiding whichever room I see one in as best I can until DH gets home from work and flushes the bug. I don't like bugs, not even 'cute' bugs, and the stinkbugs totally freak me out. I don't know what it is with me and bugs. DH gets mad at me sometimes, lol, but I can't help it. Bugs creep me out. :confused3

Our area was one of the first areas infested, and it's horrible! Even during the winter we'd kill at least 4 a day - I'm not looking forward to the warmer weather.

Our workplace is also infested, and when you walk down the hallway, you can see a bunch on the floor, wall or ceiling. ICK!
