We here in the North East are waging a war against Stink bugs.
I hate these creepy little things. There is nothing you can do about them. You can't smash them because they STiNK! Imagine that. And apparently the smell attracts even more of the awful critters.
They say that they are much worse this year because of our unusually hot summer.
I remember seeing them in Valdosta Georgia last November, but I can't remember how they were at the Fort last year.
I was wondering how they are this year.

I flush them down the toilet! Let them crawl up on a piece of paper and then flick into the water. No stink!

I actually spray them with Brake Clean.
Just a little spritz kills them. It affects their central nervous system.
No stink! However, they are everywhere.
The exterminators say "Sorry, nothing we can do."
My girlfriend uses amonia, she says that kills them. I think she may just be drowning them in it.

Well just a couple of hours ago I saw two at the edge of the ceiling behind the TV and took a chance and used the vacuum cleaner to suck them up. We have one of the Bissel multi cyclone bagless vacuums and I don't know what it did to them, but I couldn't find anything moving in the see thru dirt collector and no stink so maybe all is good and I'm hoping all the dirt just absorbed whatever was left of them.:rotfl2::thumbsup2

If we can reach them we usually just use a paper towel to gently catch them and they get the "FLUSH" treatment in the toilet.

I only use the Brake Clean outside on the porch and around the windows, etc.
If I find them inside, eeewww, I usually collect them and put them in a Ziploc bag.
I have heard horror stories of them crawling back up out of the toilet. I don't know if that is true or not, but I don't want to chance it.

I have not seen many of them down here in FL. It is very rare if you do.

That is great to hear.
They are literally everywhere here.
It will be nice to spend a few weeks without the little buggers.

Luckycharm: I see you are from PA, but I am not familiar with your town. Where is it located? I'm originally from Drums (outside of the Poconos).

We keep them as pets. I am proud to say, they originated in the US in Allentown, PA just about 5 miles from my house at the airport. They came in on some plants imported from the orient. I still can't figure out how they manage to get into the house.

Not to far.
Downingtown is about 30 miles west of Philadelphia in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Between Philadelphia and Lancaster.

Yes. I did hear that they came into Lehigh Valley Airport in packing material from China.
They don't bite, sting or carry disease, but they sure are annoying.
You see them in the spring and the fall. It is funny that you never see one in the summer. Where do they go?
In the fall they are trying to get inside where it is warmer. And believe me when I say that they are good at accomplishing their goal.
Then in the spring you see them because they want outside.
Just please tell me that you don't name them.

You are too funny.
Apparently they get in through any little crack or crevice.
I was just in our RV yesterday cleaning and then I went back in today and there was one sitting in my seat.
You just can't win.
I put him in a Ziploc bag. I didn't name him.

I have no problem squishing them. Even though they may stink a little, they still smell better than my dog!

Best Regards!

Nope, no stink bug issues down here in FL. I'll stick with our love bugs thankyouverymuch. ;)

2 teaspoons of garlic mixed with water in a spray bottle. spray around windows and doors. lasts for a day or 2, but your house smells like garlic. At least it might ward off vampires, also.
PS I'm from Oley, Pa. Not far from Downingtown.

Yes, I am familiar with Oley PA.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm willing to try just about anything.
It rained today, so I didn't see to many.

Oh they'll be back. It rained here a lot in the past 2 days and the Stinkers are still here.

I watched a Praying Mantis attempting to eat a stink bug today, she/he ( i can't tell which) pulled the wing off the stink bug but then she/he let it go. Not to her taste I guess. I was really disappointed. I was hoping for a stink bug eating marathon :yay:. Not gonna happen.

The stink bugs are everywhere around our house - deck, windows, patio umbrella, doors. I'm looking forward to a hard freeze just so they go away!
