We are trying to decide if we should go on the Disney Catamaran to Stingray City. Has anyone taken it? Would you recommend it? Or should we go with Capt. Marvin? What your opinion? I really appreciate your input.

We did Capt. Marvin's and really enjoyed ourselves. It's cheaper than DCL's tour, and we the groups stay pretty small. You can walk to their pickup location easily from the dock. I think you'll find others that say the same thing. I've also heard Red Sail cruises strongly recommended.

I don't think you can go wrong, it's just what type of boat you want to go out on, how long, and with how many people.

We did the Disney excursion that combined an island tour with stingray snorkeling. I have full details in my trip report from last May on my website, but I'll give some quickie info. here. We loved it!!! For the island tour, we were broken down into small groups that rode in separate vans. We saw the turtle farm and Hell (a good place to get silly t-shirts and postcards) and then went to the dock for the stingray part of the tour. We went out on multiple small boats with our van mates. The boats were small enough to all the tour guide to give plenty of individual attention for helping us to feed the stingrays, hold them out of the water for photos, coax in reluctant kids, etc. It was a blast!! After we were done, they had a shower attachment to rinse us off as we got back on the boat, and cold beverages were provided. There is also a very small restroom on the boat...and I mean small! (But it did the job.) All in all, it was an awesome tour.

Thanks for the info. The catamaran sounds different so we are leaning toward taking that trip rather than a motor boat trip. Plus, I know we can't miss the ship's departure if we stick with the Disney excursion.

how did you get to capt. bryan's? if you walked, how long a walk was it?

Yes, you walk about 3 blocks, maybe 5 minutes or so and get to the office. From there you are transported to where the boat is kept, about 10 minute drive.

We went to Sting Ray City 13 years ago on our honeymoos. It was way cool and well worth it
