Sting Rays in San Diego

Hi there!

I was just reading on here about which beach to take little kids to and La Jolla sounded good. Then I started reading about sting rays and I'm a bit paranoid. We're going in July. If the kids are just playing on the shore, maybe going in up to 1 1/2 feet, are the chances pretty slim of getting stung? Any other beach ideas. My 2 year old breaks out in hives so often from various things I'm a little scared what being stung would do to him....

DH got stung by a stingray right off the beach of Coronado (which is in San Diego). I've been playing in the ocean for a long time myself and have never been stung. I don't think that it's a huge chance of you getting stung, but just make sure that you know where the lifeguard station is and that you have a cell phone on you, just in case. But I wouldn't be too worried. Just bring your boogie boards and have a wonderful time!
