We passed ROFR on May 18th and were told to expect to close within about 2 weeks. As of July 9th, we're still waiting and waiting and waiting.

It has been a long road and some of my excitement is gone. Many things have happened that I am wondering if it is a sign that we shouldn't have bought in or something.

At this point, I'm thinking maybe we should have bought through Disney instead of resale. But hopefully, when it is all said and done, I'll be glad I went this very long route.

Wow, that does seem like a long time to wait. I haven't purchased thru resale before, so I'm not sure how it all works. I hope all ends well and we can welcome you home very soon :wizard: .

Thanks, Carol. It all seemed to moved very quickly at first. We had our answer from ROFR within the week and now it all seems to be at a snail's pace. Frustrating!

Have you contacted your agent? ... or have you called DVC? Your contract may have closed already and you may already be in the DVC system, but have not yet received the Welcome documents (those often take several weeks).

I'd call DVC to see if you have closed and are already in the computer. If you are not, then I'd call your resale agent and inquire about the holdup.

Good luck!

Let me be the first to Welcome you Home!!!

We passed ROFR way after that - closed and I have already received the check as the seller. Call and find out what's going on!

Definitely call and find out what's going on. Are you using a closing agent?

Where in the process are you? Maybe the sellers sat on the paperwork before sending it in.

Have you paid your money? That's usually one of the last steps before it all goes to Disney.

We've gone through rofr a couple of times and the last time I had a problem when calling Disney, and they kept saying my contract hadn't closed. The annoying closing company (tcs) kept shrugging their shoulders and telling me to wait. Finally, someone at Disney looked into it for me and found out that I had been given the wrong contract number on my paperwork. Everything had closed a couple of weeks earlier. That was on top of several other mistakes the closing company had made. If they aren't doing their job properly it can delay things quite a bit.

Call and find out and post what's going on, maybe those of us who have been through it can give some suggestions.

Good luck.

My sellers did wait a while before sending it in. I think they were vacationing for some of that time.
I wired my documents and $$ on June 12. JUNE 12!! Ugh! And here it is July 10th.
We were both instructed to wired or overnight documents (USPS not recommended) and they did use USPS. I am not sure of the date their documents were sent.
BUT, they were NOT received in overnight delivery and as far as I know they couldn't be located at the time.

edited because *I* spoke to my resale agent and was told that my seller accidently sent the documents to the wrong address as they are selling another timeshare (not DVC).
It was a closing company, not another resale company. Sounds like there was a mix-up all around.
When the documents were received by my company, the notary didn't have the 2 witnesses sign, only one :sad2: so we'll hopefully get the paperwork all done this week.

We are just ready to get this taken care of, as you all that own can imagine. We've been looking into DVC since May of 2000 and seriously working on this since our tour of SSR in February.

Thanks for listening to my vent!!

Buckalew11, try not to worry. Mistakes can happen anytime human beings are involved, it happens with Disney too. I'm sure that Jacki Apetz will take care of the problem. She's a reputable broker and has taken care of her people in the past!

Best wishes,
Tom :sunny:

Yes, Jaki has been wonderful through all this. I know she will be as happy as I am to get this closed. I am sure it has been very frustrating for her as the agent to deal with all this but she has been very professional all around.

I am sure when you are dealing with people far away, it is easy to have this kind of thing happening because you aren't right there to say,"sign on THIS line" etc. And, it wasn't her fault the closing company received the paperwork and filed it into the seller's other folder not really paying attention to the fact that these were two different contracts. Hopefully, they'll be more careful.

But as I said, Jaki has been A-1.

NutyProfessor, thanks for the welcome home. If I by chance have closing today, I will probably celebrate all weekend!!!

I'm sure this has been frustrating for you, but soon (I hope) it will be behind you and you'll have decades to enjoy your purchase. Let us know when you get everything cleared so we can welcome you home properly! :thumbsup2
