Hi...we are trying to decide between these two resorts for a January trip, and, all things being equal, would choose the one with the better lighting. I know there's a reason for the dimness with the energy efficient florescent bulbs, and what it really amounts to is whether or not I take a lighted makeup mirror. It's heavy and fragile, so if I don't have to, I won't take it. If anyone has any recent experiences there, could you let me know? THANKS!! Lin

Hi Lin,

We were at AKL this past May. I found no problem with the lighting. Our rooms 5237 and 5239 had the lighted vanity mirrors outside the actual bathroom. We found that to be plenty of light.

Now I don't know what type of room you've booked. Someone once mentioned that I had that vanity light because I was in a deluxe room.

Someone may be able to clarify further for you.

Hope that helps

DD always uses a lighted make-up mirror at home but never complained about the lighting during our stays at AKL. We never had a deluxe room and I don't think there was any extra lighting around the mirror.

We were just at AKL and had no problem with lighting of any kind. I've read of how dark the rooms could be but we had lights above each of the bunk beds also which was great! I've seen pics of WL and there are no lights over the bunks. Anyone know if this has been changed?

Vanity in a regular room offered plenty of light IMO.
