I just saw that Palo no longer has the brunch buffet and instead it is small portion menu items only. Anyone gone in March/April who can confirm?

I feel like it’s no longer worth it

We went to PALO on the Wish back in February for brunch and there was no buffet. However, you can order anything off the brunch menu and order more than one. No limit! We usually get a good array of things off the menu to share amongst the table especially with the flatbreads and the desserts. I doubt they will be going back to the buffet style anytime soon; we had talked with our PALO server on our cruise back in October and he seemed to think the current set-up isn't going anywhere.

Besides being able to order an unlimited amount of items off the brunch menu, the two antipasto plates (seafood and meat/cheese) can also be ordered in unlimited amounts. You can ask for additional antipasto items (we've had our server bring plates of just spicy ahi). These antipasto plates are a nice representation of much (not all) of what was available at the old buffet. There's also the bread basket and fresh pastries (huge almond croissants, muffins, etc.) that are comparable to the buffet offerings. While I miss the old buffet, for $45 or a platinum benefit, the buffet far exceeds the value of the current Palo dinner options where you are limited to the more restricted prix fixe menu. I've had the new brunch six times and have never left feeling disappointed or that it wasn't worth it.

My solo-brunch started at 10 am, it took 1,5 hours. I ate so much I didn't eat for the remainder of the day, except for half a salad at dinner, and when I woke up the next day, I still wasn't hungry.

Do we know what happens with buffet food that doesn't get eaten? I assume it's all thrown away (or pressed together and made into fishfood), and probably cancelling the buffet at Palo will save money. My guess, the chances of the buffet at Palo returning any time soon... pretty low.

The last couple times we went (Fantasy & Wish) the servers said they preferred "no buffet" since that gave them more time to interact with the guests.
I can see that. We had done dinner at Palo the night before (not my choice to do those back to back; when we got on the ship it was the only slot offered, lol). We had the same server for both dinner and brunch the next morning (I'm sure on purpose), so it was extra nice to get to know her, and she knew us a little better as well.

While the buffet is nice and visually fun to look at, I don't mind the new way. My only 'issue' is that with a buffet you could take a little taste of something (and then go back if you wanted more). While you can order as much as you want off the menu now, they are all full portions. That's a lot of food, and yes while I could just take a taste and then get something else, I hate wasting that much food. I would like the 'as much off the menu as you like' option if they were smaller portions. (But that won't stop me from doing Palo brunch in the future, lol!)

We went on the Dream in March. No buffet and I don’t know how I could have eaten anything from it anyway since you can order as much as you want off the brunch menu. DH and I each had the charcuterie plate, each ordered an eggs benedict dish (I did salmon, can’t remember his), totally skipped the waffle and pancake section, split a pizza but got half the toppings I wanted and half his toppings, each did an entree (lasagna for me, chicken parm for him), and each got a dessert but only took a few bites because we were so full. Also had a bread basket and could have gotten pastries like croissants but didn’t want them. Also had a mimosa and since I don’t drink them the server just gave DH 2.

Since you can order as much as you want from the menu, I dont understand how people are saying it’s not worth $45 just because there is no buffet. I get the buffet brought more value, but it’s still a ton of fantastic food with excellent service for $45. If I were at home in my mid size city at a downtown brunch spot I would have spent $100-150 per person easy. And we didn’t even order all the courses we could have…

Thanks for the feedback. Has anyone had the brunch steak? Our time is 12:30 so more lunch anyway.
