Still new to manipulating points.

It appears my vacation plans for the first part of July are coming unraveled for numerous reasons. We may have to push it back to the first part of August (praying for available ressies).

Since we are just inside the 30 day window for the start of the trip, do all of the points used for the entire vacation go into holding, including the days that aren't within the 30 day window yet?

I know that the points can first be used to make the new reservations before the holding account kicks in and would only involve any points that aren't needed for the new reservation. We have another reservation for January at AKV. Can I ask that they use any points in the holding account first on the existing AKV reservation in January, and then those additional points will be available for banking, or is that idea just a pipe dream since the AKV ressie is already made?

you can only use holding points 60 days before your arrival.

pretty sure that all the points will go into holding. but call NOW.

get it done - the longer you wait the worst it will be.

All ponts from the reservaton will go into holding. They can not swap them for the January AKV reservation UNLESS there is availablility for that same room type at 60 days out. Essentially, it would be cancelling and re-booking, based upon availability.

Thanks for the input. I have been rethinking what I posted and had forgotten a couple of facts. Can one of you check my thought process and see if I'm correct.

My upcoming reservation is actually two different ressies. The first part is for three nights at VB, starting July 4 and checking out July 7. The second part of the trip is for a reservation at OKW for 5 nights, starting July 7 and checking out on July 12.

I am within the thirty day window for the VB reservation. Will I be within the thirty day window for the OKW reservation after tomorrow (June 6) or after Saturday (June 7)? In other words, do I need to make the change by COB tomorrow so the points for the OKW ressie don't go into holding, or do I have until Saturday to talk to them (not meaning to push it, but it would be easier to do Saturday due to work issues).

The reservation I want to make in place of this one would start on August 1 for 8 nights, checking out on August 9 (if I can find something for all of those days). Since (if I get it done on time) the only points to go in holding are for the first three nights I currently have at VB, I should be able to use them to make the new ressie in August. Sixty days from today is August 5 so that would take care of at least the first three nights (August 1, 2, 3 - depending on the difference in points between resorts, but even so any additional should easily go towards August 4 I think). The points from the OKW ressie that start July 7 would go back into my account and therefore there should be no issues reusing them for the rest of the new reservation.

Am I missing something, or am I thinking this through correctly? Does the thirty day and sixty day window include the day you call MS, or if I call them today does tomorrow count as day 1?
