okay, heres my stupid question I have gone to disney before, but always with a travel agent and just booked a package..this time , my dad got a really good deal on air fare, so we didnt do the package thing....So now we have our airfare and need to get room and park hoppers...I keep seeing people talk about COdes..what are they exactly..and how do they work?
Im going jan 8-15..and we are looking to get 2 , possibly 3 rooms (mom dad, me and my friend, brother and his friend)...Depending on price...
Dad doesnt want to stay in a value, so were looking at Caribbean beach or something like that...
also, can u get deals on the park ]hopper passes??
..im sorry if t his doenst make sense,,i have no idea where to start

Jen...how in the world could you post over 2,000 times (WOW! :)) and not know about codes??? tsk...tsk....now here's some Tink waving and some dusting of information!:wizard:

Okay...

1. Check out this site....codes described....
http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-current.htm#package

2. Sometimes you're better off booking room only...you should be okay with your dates regarding blackouts...if you don't find what you want make a reservation anyway at an acceptable resort (you don't have to pay anything for 14 days) then keep checking back to see if your preferred resort has opened up any rooms...Sometimes lots of rooms are on "hold" and when folks finally see the rates come out the release their previous reservations...so daily availability can change.

3. I checked with AAA...they do offer a slight discount on park tickets...but actually Disney's "advance purchase" tickets are cheaper than AAA's....as long as you buy them 2 days before you travel...a 5 day park hopper adult is $244 for an example. And if you buy those tickets they don't expire...if your parents don't use their tickets you can use them again in the future...if you booked a package...you usually get "length of stay" passes...meaning they're only good for the time you're at Disney the expire on the day you leave.

I hope I answered some of them for you! Have a great time! That's a great time to go! The marathon is on the 9th...can't remember your starting date but if you can't find a room at discount on that night try booking the 10th out and do a separate reservation for the night of the 9th.

haha tara--i know i should be ashamed!
thank you so much :) I will be figuring this allll out after classes today!

Try the Budget Board for information about discounted tickets. I got a great deal on Disney Quest tickets from Ticketmania. I'll be buying my park hoppers from Hotwire. Much cheaper than Disney.

Could you explain how to buy park hoppers from hotwire, please???
Thanks so much!!

Christine

I think www.mousesavers.com if a good place to check for codes along with this site. A new doe BDP was released today and you should be able to get a night at a moderate resort for $85 for that time period. Do you know about the 800 number to call?

1-800-828-0228 or 1-877-939-3732

Good luck!

Hey!

Hope you've had time to read all the codes! :) Dontcha feel like an informed special agent now?

Just wanted to throw something at you...

I had reserved a room yesterday with the Annual Pass holder rate for a 7 night stay at Beach Club...normally $294/night...the AP rate was $204 a night and the rate using the code open for all folks was around $214 a night. So if you're getting several rooms you might save some bucks by having the responsible party (meaning the one who is paying for this on their card) buy an Annual Pass and book under that code. An annual pass is about $150 more than a 5-day hopper pass but if you're getting multiple rooms you might can save some there...

I wouldn't even bother with the rates on the packages....I'm saving over$700 by just buying my tickets and room separately....we're there for 7 nights but I only really need a 5-day hopper because we can spend our "travel" days visiting the pool and restaurants at other resorts...and your park hopper won't ever expire in case you don't use them...just something to consider.

Good luck!
Tara

Thanks guys..im going to look around tonight and tlel my dad so he can decide..so much info, i get confused: ) THANKS

i just called using the code i found on mousesavers....the only room left in a moderate is the parlor suite in CS for 226.63....so thats definitely too much..is there anything else im supposed to try? lol

I called 4 times today...oh my! Really wanted a certain date...but alas it was blocked...so I opened myself up for other dates....finally found Beach club...that was it..meaning that's the only thing they had available under $300 a night ($214) anywhere...tried all the dates....(must add I am stuck with resorts that fit five...didn't try for others)....but then I heard that Beach Club's slide would be under repairs...aagh! That's the only reason we'd stay there..so went back to the phones! Finally, got Contemporary Tower...thought I'd be happy but paying $255 now...and if I'm paying $255 I'd better be reallly happy. The decor there just seems like it'd give me a headache...so went back to see if ANYTHING was open...lo and behold I got Grand Floridian for the same price! WOW! So keep trying...things open up and alot depends on how aggressive your CM is...2 of the ones I spoke to today I really wanted to hang up on...their attitude was all about not being helpful...the other two were gems and so considerate and really searched for me.
Keep trying!
Tara
