Day 10 – Magic Kingdom and Boardwalk
Monday 23rd May
Bit of a lie-in this morning after our late night out at Magic Kingdom, plus we’re moving again today…hopefully to the ground floor. We pack up the little that we unpacked last night, and call bell services to store the bags for a few hours before heading off to MK again as we have a lunch reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern.
Bus takes ages again…probably around 25 minutes…but we finally arrive at Magic Kingdom around 11.15am. Decide to take the railroad to do a circle of the park, and then grab some FPs for BTM for later before heading directly to the restaurant.
Ryan on the WDW railroad
First time head and impressed with the theming and size of the place. Helen and I both have Turkey for lunch – delicious. I also had clam chowder to start, and Apple Tart with Butterscotch ice cream for dessert. All very tasty, and we leave very full and satisfied. I enjoyed the food so much in fact that I forgot to take any pictures, so you’ll just have to imagine the scene yourselves I’m afraid
Fastpass time on Big Thunder Mountain and Helen and I both accompany Ryan once, while Emma says hello to Donald Duck. She’s not a big fan of Big Thunder, but she does take the following picture of Ryan and I coming off of the ride. Note the name of the little boy in the front-right, on his birthday button – ahhhh!
Quick ride on the Carrousel and then watch the Share a Dream show in front of the castle before heading off.
Massive wait again for a bus – not impressed at all after 4 trips now – our luck is definitely out! Eventually get back to resort, new room number and trek to the end of the hallway only to find the key cards don’t work. Back to reception and new keys produced, and we’re finally in.
We get bell services to deliver our bags, report a broken light in the living room, request a kettle (well, we are Brits) and we’re finally sorted. The room is 1121, a corner one facing the lake at the front of the Boardwalk and we’re happy as it’s a short walk for the kids to the quiet pool and community hall. Finally, we unpack for good – for a few days at least!
Down to the main pool for sunshine and swimming and stay here till around 6.30pm, just relaxing after the past few days.
Back to the room to shower and get ready to go out. Big River Grille tonight – food is cheese soup, then quesadilla and a beer. Helen has pasta, and the kids hot dog/chicken plus chocolate cake.
It’s about 7.30pm and I nip off to get supplies from Publix while kids finish their dessert. The plan is that I will meet them later at Epcot to watch the fireworks together. I am as quick as I can be, and finally meet up with 30 seconds to go before Illuminations kicks off.
We watch the show – as good as ever – and then amble back to the Beach Club to let the kids play in the sand for half an hour and see the movie they are playing on the big screen (Enchanted).
Everyone feeling the heat now, so back to the room for a quick bath to wash the sand away, and then sit down with a cuppa to write up trip report and watch a bit of Letterman before bed.
