Still confused about codes...

:confused3 Okay, so if I book our trip directly through disney world (either online or by phone) and I do a complete package (room, tickets, dining plan), and a code comes out eventually for the dates I've booked, can I call back and have the code applied for the room?

Also, if they end up coming out with a free dining plan for the time period I will be there, can I call back and cancel my dining plan and use the free one instead?

If I wanted to just book the room and tickets right now, could I wait on the dining plan (on the small chance that they may come out with a free one) and book it later if I had to (if they didn't come out with a free one)???

Thanks

You can always call and make changes to your reservation. Discount codes will always be subject to availability so you aren't going to be guaranteed the deal.

Basically what you said is correct you can book the entire plan or the package with room and tickets and add the dining plan later when and if. watch for codes to come out and if one does and if the rules for it coincide with what you have and if they have availability when you call then you can apply the code and get the savings, same with the dining plan if it comes out for free, you cannot use free dining and any other discount however.

You can call and have the code applied to your reservation IF your room type is available for your dates with the code. If not, you can switch to a different room, different resort or change your dates (as long as you are at least 45 days from arrival) to something that works with the code. Same thing goes for free dining (which has typically only been offered in late Aug and into September).

You can book your trip with only room and tickets and add dining later.

Sorry to barge in on the thread, but I have a related question-

Why buy tickets in advance? I have a room booked at the end of January at a AAA rate and am waiting (and expecting) to see a code that lowers my rate. I know I can always switch rooms for the discount if necessary, but the way I look at it (please correct me if I'm wrong) I shouldn't buy the tickets yet because I might end up with a package deal that works better then a room only discount. In that case, I would be limited because I already bought the tickets.

Yup other then having an AP which may be an advantage you are right you are better to wait to get the tickets to see if you end up wanting a package. because you HAVE to include at least one day base ticket for each person in the room to make it a package or to include dining plan.

ONLY time it pays to buy tickets ahead is if you know you don't want a package no matter what and you want to have the tickets at current price just in case there is a price increase.
