I am still so conflicted on whether to try the MNSSHP or go for the 3rd time to MVMCP. I absolutely LOVE:lovestruc Christmas time! The weather, atmosphere, crowds, resort prices (value season), etc. have been so wonderful when we've been during the first week of December. (I think I'm spoiled now.) How will October compare to December with (1) weather, (2) crowds, (3) insects, (4) the holiday parties, ect.? I know I have some time to decide, but this is driving me bonkers! Any advice from people who have done both?:listen: Thanks!

Haven't done both, but I have to say that those are exactly the reasons we haven't hit October yet is because we love early December so so much!

I know we will hit October for MNSSHP for several reasons. This kids are getting older and our fall break is in October. Easier to skip 2 days in October than 6 in December. Plus, my DS LOVES the Headless Horseman! Seeing the HH begin the parade and seeing my son's face would be worth going in Oct. and to MNSSHP alone!

So we will be hitting October sometime...just not sure when. This year we are doing December. So maybe 2005 we will do October.

We've done both having done MVMCP 3 times so far with the last one this past December. We did MNSSHP 2 years ago and are going to give it a try again this October!

If I had to choose one, it would probably be MVMCP, BUT we also really enjoyed MNSSHP and we've decided to alternate for now.

Nothing beats Disney in December but October/Halloween, come a very close second.

The weather in October was AMAZING. The crowds for us the last week in October was surprisingly very low.

We highly recommend the end of October. The only down side to December is the unpredicible weather. This past December we got stuck there for another day (I know poor us!) because of a blizzard in NE. It ended up costing us another $500 and my DH missed another day of work, but we made the best of it, of course!

I really think you should give it a try at least once! There's nothing like Halloween with the Mouse!

Your name suggests that there are others to consider other than yourself. I am a single adult female celbrating my 50th birthday at WDW this May.

I am absolutely in love with eveything about the Christmas season. It is my time to shine and feel the best I do all year long.

I went to MNSSHP and you really owe it to the 2 cute kids, no matter their age, to experience MNSSHP and say you are doing it for the kids.

I had fun getting my fortune told, seeing all the grown kids (my age) dressed up and letting their inner child out to play. I enjoyed the cookies and cider and even the adults are given a trick or treat bag to fill.

It is a totally different experience than the reverence and serenity that MVMCP and Christmas time offers, but one not to be completely missed either.

2 Adults here, and we've been to both, and I'm trying to squeeze a quick weekend with a Sunday night trip in October so we can do the MNSSHP again!

There, I've said it. DH hasn't a clue, we've got a huge Grand Gatherings scheduled for just before Christmas, and I've been mulling this over in my mind. We're DVC and it will mean borrowing even more points, but yes, I want to go to the Halloween party again, I can't wait until the dates come out. Maybe something early October, so he can't say that it's almost time for the Christmas trip.

We did MVMCP when we were at WDW Nov/Dec 02
This yr we're trying MNSSHP

We've done both and they are great. I prefer MVMCP as it is just one big part of the whole holiday experience. To me its a great time to go and enjoy. We've done it the last two years.

In 2002 we did both in the same year and I really enjoyed MVMCP more.

One thing to consider if you can - go on a night other than a weekend. You get lots of locals then and the park is really crazy busy.

Thanks for all the replies and great advice! Yes, I do have kids (5 1/2 year old twins), and that's why I thought of the MNNSHP....to give them something different, but being kids, they don't always think "Mom" has the best ideas. Since they don't realize what they're missing with the halloween party, I'm stuck deciding.....do we go back to what the family knows and definitlely loves or do I get them to try something new which I'm sure they will like, also. I'm just trying to make a pro/con list in my head to help in the decision.;)
